BATTERIES Core SWX, the company formerly known as Switronix, has announced that it is now shipping units of its Hypercore SLIM HC8 battery pack. The HC8 is capable of handling high- draw loads, making it suitable for UAV, handheld gimbal and all other applications demanding a low-profile battery pack. It will work with Red, Arri Alexa Mini and similar digital cameras, handling draws of up to 148Wh (10A) without deterioration in service life or operability. Jose Flores, sales manager at Core SWX, said: “The HC8 is the most compact, trim design in the industry and is perfect for UAV or other scenarios where a small form factor is needed.” The HC8 features an LED backlit runtime LCD on the front that lets users know how much battery time is left when in use and will also show remaining charge time while connected to a charger. CoreSWX.com LIGHTS Rotolight has been chosen as the LED lighting supplier to Celebro Media Studios, the 4k television production facility in London. Initially the studios used 11 Rotolight Anova V2 bi-colour lights for use in various productions. This has now been extended to more than 50 units. Wesley Dodd, the chief executive of Celebro Media Studios, said: “We wanted to be at the forefront of technology. Everything from the monitors on the wall to the cables under the floor are suitable for 4k transmissions. This, of course, has been extended to the lighting too. Many people in our industry are sceptical when it comes to LEDs as they have probably encountered problems with too much green light, flickering, or some other kind of issue. We had to fight through those perceptions to some extent, and find a light that just didn’t have any of those problems.” The Rotolight Anova produces colour accuracy and a powerful soft light output of up to 6900 lux at three feet and consumes 48 watts at full power.
