Captions Triveni Digital will use NAB (booth SU8802) to introduce next-generation closed-caption monitoring and auditing capabilities for its StreamScope RM-40. The additions to its transport stream monitoring system are designed to help broadcasters adhere to the US government’s FCC 14-12 regulations. RM-40 supports multiple inputs, including QAM, ASI, GigE, 8-VSB, and SMPTE-310 allowing broadcast operators to continuously monitor EIA-608, EIA-708-E, SCTE 20, and SCTE 21 closed captions encoded in MPEG-2 and AVC (H.264) for linear video services. The new closed-captioning capabilities are available as a free software upgrade for existing customers with a service contract. The company will also highlight its StreamScope MT-50 HDT real-time DTV transport stream analysis and troubleshooting tool and the GuideBuilder 5 EPG Managed Cloud Service at the show. Transmission workflows Cobalt Digital has launched the ANC-MON ancillary data monitor for end-to-end data transmission workflows. The ANC- MON combines the capabilities of multiple pieces of test equipment in a single tool that automatically probes various types of ancillary data and alerts broadcast control room operators when data is out of spec. It is part of a suite of data-processing products that also includes an insertion and extraction tool and a new solution card for openGear users. Cobalt Digital will demonstrate the new tool at the 2015 NAB Show, along with its insertion/extraction counterpart, in an openGear frame configuration. “Data management is one of the biggest pain points for a broadcast engineer, especially when it comes to demonstrating compliance with regulations and ad schedules,” said Jesse Foster, western sales manager and product manager for Cobalt Digital “We’re putting a lot of energy into alleviating that pain for our openGear customers.” SGL has an established history serving the archive needs of broadcast facilities around the world.
