NEWS MANIPULATE & EDIT DOLBY ATMOS MIXING RTW debuted new audio processor hardware for Continuous Loudness Control (CLC) at the NAB. APRO-CLC01 enables engineers to use the company’s processing algorithm for continuous loudness and dynamic control of a live signal within their professional audio equipment. “We have created the APRO-CLC01 as a platform that will enable integrators or processor manufacturers to use RTW’s OEM-PCB within their hardware, as well as console manufacturers and others,” said Michael Kahsnitz, head of product management, RTW. “With this new introduction, it will be up to the integrator to define the way a user can control and read back information from our processor.” The APRO-CLC01 was developed in conjunction with the German Institut fr Rundfunktechnik (IRT). The CLC signal processing algorithm allows users to constantly control and regulate to a given programme-loudness value, along with a definable loudness range with minimal obstacles for unknown, live content. NUGEN Audio has added a 9.1 mixing option to its Halo Upmix plug-in that includes overhead positioning and generates a 7.1.2 Dolby Atmos bed track-compatible upmix. The new extension will allow sound designers and post-production engineers to “bring existing stereo content more easily into the breathtaking realism of a full Dolby Atmos mix”, the company said. In addition to stem and group upmixing, mixers can use Halo Upmix’s centre channel control and management to fine-tune a surround mix and to create intricate mixes when there is no access to the original stems. Halo Upmix is available for both OS X and Windows, with support for Avid AAX, AudioSuite, VST2, VST3, and AU formats. LOUDNESS EDITING Cinegy has improved how its products integrate with Adobe’s After Effects CC and Premiere Pro CC. In an effort to provide faster and more-efficient broadcast production workflows, Cinegy’s Daniel codec can now be used with After Effects to output animations as part of Cinegy Type, a CG and branding option that extends Cinegy’s Air PRO real-time playout server and multi-channel broadcast automation software. Any project created in Adobe After Effects CC can now be exported via the Daniel codec for use with a Cinegy Air PRO playlist. Cinegy Type adds multiple layers of automation-controlled, template-based titles, logos, animated graphics, and a wide range of highly advanced effects and features. The Cinegy Type module addresses requirements from logo insertion to complex branding with templated information and animated video plates in SD, HD, and 4K. MPA audio monitoring range The new MPA (monitor plus audio) range provides users with an intuitive yet flexible audio monitoring tool, whether checking incoming feeds on an OB or creating a custom monitoring mix for production staff. Designed for ease of use and excellent sound quality, together with the ability to create workflow-specific solutions, the MPA range is available in a variety of input formats, such as MADI, Dante, AES67, Hydra2 and Ravenna. A built-in web server enables all units to be configured, monitored and controlled remotely via an intuitive web interface.
