Media asset management software provider IPV has confirmed details of new growth capital that will enable it to further expand the global reach of its acclaimed MAM product, Curator. The £4m Series A round was led by SME-focused venture capital firm Mobeus Equity Partners, with additional ongoing finance secured from Calculus Capital.

Mark Fagan, IPV CEO said, “Multiple industries are rapidly expanding their use of video but are facing significant challenges during the content creation process. Curator makes it easy to remotely edit, collaborate and publish high quality video content – enabling customers to ensure consistency of messaging and sustained audience growth via digital, online and mobile platforms.”

Customer demand for personalized TV services is spurring majority of broadcasters to offer tailored ads

Four-fifths (80%) of broadcasters are considering implementing ads tailored to the consumer but are increasingly falling behind streaming services due to hesitance around adopting cloud technologies, according to research carried out on behalf of ATEME, the emerging leader in video delivery solutions for broadcast, cable, DTH, IPTV and OTT.

 

The survey of those in middle management positions or above within the realms of TV and broadcast also found that 96% of broadcasters feel there is a demand from customers for more personalized services. As over a third (34%) of broadcasters currently generate revenue through adverts, offering personalized adverts could help them increase this revenue. Consequently, over a quarter (26%) are currently looking into how to offer these services to customers.

 

“Our research found that more than half (58%) of broadcasters are investing up to 20% of their budget in trialing new customer content or services as they prioritize personalization to offer customers enhanced viewing experiences,” said Remi Beaudouin, Chief Strategy Officer, ATEME. “By using technology and the data available to them to tap into this trend, traditional broadcasters will be able to create a tailor-made viewing experience and potentially open up new revenue streams,” he added.

The League of Legends World Championship has been described as one of the biggest events in esports history, with the 2018 World Championship Final garnering an unprecedented 99.6 million unique viewers. This year’s event, which took place in Paris (France) on November 10, 2019, involved two remote (or at-home) production sites: the English language show was produced at Riot’s European headquarters facility in Berlin (over 1,000 km or 620 miles from Paris), while the world feed was produced in Los Angeles (around 9,000 km or 5,600 miles away). JPEG XS achieves high-quality compression with ratios up to 10:1 at sub-millisecond latency, i.e. a fraction of a video frame– allowing gaming fans and players watching at home to see the action faster.

International Motor Sports Association in Talks to Use TVU RPS After Demonstration from Al Kamel

Al Kamel Systems, recently demonstrated their Sports Timing and TV Graphics service, to the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) using TVU Networks TVU Remote Production System (RPS) for cost efficiency and sustainability in reducing CO2 emissions. The IMSA, North America’s premier sports car organization, is a subsidiary of NASCAR that organizes the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, Michelin Pilot Challenge and more.
 
Al Kamel Systems worked with TVU Networks earlier in the year for its production of the Credit Andorrà G-Series electric car Snow Rally Championships. The company deployed TVU RPS, an at-home/REMI production solution that synchronizes multiple feeds for cost-effective production from a remote studio location. Following its success using TVU RPS for the coverage of the event, Al Kamel gave a demonstration of the same solution to IMSA.
 
IMSA had interest in using Al Kamel’s Sports Timing and TV Graphics of which TVU RPS is an integral part. The ability to set the video delay was a key advantage. Al Kamel had the opportunity to test TVU RPS at the Sebring International Raceway in Florida and with the help of TVU RPS, Al Kamel was able to deliver its Remote Time Keeping and TV Graphics to its headquarters in La Garriga, Spain. TVU RPS performed perfectly, with 2 second delay in real time.
 
“TVU RPS completely passed the test and made our demonstration a success,” said Sergi Galbany, Operations Director at Al Kamel. “We are hoping that its proven strength and reliability will continue to aid IMSA in its operations next year.”

Man Made Music Upgrades Its Surround Monitoring With PMC

Man Made Music, a Manhattan-based company specialising in sound design, sonic branding and music creation, has been working closely with loudspeaker manufacturer PMC to upgrade the stereo and surround monitoring in one of its two control rooms.

The company has installed a PMC IB2S XBD-A active system for both stereo and 5.1 monitoring and is using PMC Wafer2 passive speakers for Left and Right Rear Surround positions. These provide excellent dispersion and frequency response in a small, rectangular footprint, and because they can easily be mounted to any wall they allow for maximum flexibility in all types of custom-install situations.

Established by award-winning composer and producer Joel Beckerman, Man Made Music creates iconic music and sounds for companies such as Nissan, Disney, Citi, Alzheimer’s Association and HBO. Beckerman’s belief that sound matters was a key reason why the company chose PMC when it decided to upgrade its main Studio A control room.
