Albis Technologies Teams Up With SPB TV to Showcase Next-Gen Television Experience at CSTB 2015

Date: 19/01/2015

Albis Technologies announced today that it will team up with SPB TV, one of the world's leading providers of end-to-end OTT, IPTV, and mobile TV solutions for video content delivery to multiscreen devices, at CSTB 2015 held Jan. 27-29, in Moscow at booth 4-515A. During the show, Albis Technologies will demonstrate complete integration between its SceneGate(TM) 9090 set-top boxes (STBs) and SPB TV's Multiscreen Solution, enabling telco and Internet service providers to deliver a game-changing television experience and increase their revenue streams.

"Consumer demand for IPTV and OTT services is growing rapidly in Russia. So now -- more than ever -- service providers in that market need high-performance, flexible, and affordable solutions, such as STBs, content delivery systems, and middleware," said Samina Husain, senior business development manager, Albis Technologies. "By partnering with SPB TV, we're offering service providers a complete, cost-effective approach to delivering IPTV and OTT content on any screen. We look forward to meeting with CSTB attendees and showing them how to deliver a more exclusive service offering."

SPB TV's Multiscreen Solution is a smart, modular solution for multiscreen IPTV and OTT video delivery and playback across all screens including smartphones, PCs, and traditional TVs. The solution includes a video delivery platform for content ingest, encoding, and adaptive streaming; a middleware platform that connects a service provider's delivery infrastructure with a client and integrates those with billing, CMS, and other systems; and client-side software. By offering a complete turnkey solution together with Albis Technologies' STBs, SPB TV enables service providers to rapidly launch TV Everywhere services.

"Viewers today want compelling content anytime, anywhere, on any screen. While in some respects this is challenging for service providers, it also opens up new opportunities, such as targeted advertising, content recommendations and personalization," said Kirill Filippov, SPB TV's general director. "Through a combination of our Multiscreen Solution and STBs from Albis Technologies, service providers around the world can deliver high-quality video to any screen in no time while opening up additional revenue streams."

Albis Technologies' SceneGate 9090 is a sophisticated HD IPTV STB that delivers linear TV, VOD, OTT, and PVR services from a compact design. Unlike standard STBs, the SceneGate 9090 includes significant memory, processing power, and a dedicated GPU, all of which enhance the user experience by allowing them to engage with a variety of feature-rich applications. Capable of delivering HD resolution of up to 1080p via an HDMI(R) 1.4a interface, the SceneGate 9090 is also 3D TV ready, enabling service providers to deliver a more premium service offering. In addition to supporting cutting-edge applications and customizable user interfaces, the SceneGate 9090 allows end users to connect accessories easily -- such as wireless dongles, keyboards, and storage devices -- to the STB, achieving a connected multimedia experience.

DPA Captures Sound for Netflix Original Film: Oxyg and egrave;ne

When it came time to record the Netflix original French-language film, Oxygène (Oxygen in English), the audio team had quite the challenge in front of them. The premise of the scientific horror film focuses on a scientist, played by French Actress Melanie Laurent, who has lost her memory, awakens, trapped in a medical pod and must find her way out before the oxygen levels diminish. Given the setting, the pod is used for 90 percent of the film and, with its tight quarters, Production Sound Mixer Ken Yasumoto and Boom Operator Josselin Panchout knew they needed a reliable and unobtrusive microphone solution, which they found in DPA Microphones.
