Amino, the IP/Cloud video software and device specialist, has announced that at NAB Show 2018 it will be bringing together an industry leading panel to discuss the power of Android TV to transform operators’ ability to quickly and effectively deploy next-generation features that today’s consumers are demanding.

At the show, held at the Las Vegas Convention Centre (LVCC) April 7-12, Amino will host an 80-minute real-world masterclass entitled ‘The Power of Voice: How Android TV is transforming the user experience’. The company will also be hosting live Android TV demonstrations from its suite at The Wynn Hotel, so they can see first-hand how operators who have deployed it are transforming their subscribers’ TV experience.

Mark Evensen, Chief Technology Officer, Amino Communications says: “This event provides a great opportunity for operators of all types to gain strategic and practical insights into deploying Android TV – which for many represents a key to building commercial and operational success. With operators battling churn as consumers look for more advanced features, implementation costs and complexities have meant that only the largest operator have been able to stay on the cutting edge of consumer demand – until now, when Android TV has levelled the playing field.”

The two-part NAB Learning Lab speaker session, moderated by Colin Dixon, Founder and Chief Analyst, nScreen Media, will feature first a panel discussion by speakers from Google and Pluto TV, followed by a hands-on workshop in which TV operators DNA and Cincinnati Bell share their first-hand experience deploying Android TV. The session will explore how operators can add leading-edge features such as voice control, multiscreen delivery and apps, federated search, digital video recording and personalized UX.

The program for the Learning Lab session, which takes place Monday April 9 in Room N234-236, North Hall, LVCC, includes:

Part One: Android TV as a platform for service success

The first session of the masterclass will see a panel of some of the most well-versed experts on Android TV in the world look at how they are leveraging it to deliver next-generation services with intuitive functionalities.

Speakers include:

  • Jon Stewart, Head of America Partnerships, Google
  • Brendon Thomas, VP Distribution, Pluto TV
  • Mark Evensen, Chief Technology Officer, Amino Communications

Part Two: Reinventing the pay-TV experience with Android TV

An in-depth talk by operators DNA and Cincinnati Bell explores how Android TV is helping them to transform their TV service offerings, discussing their direct experience of deploying it.

Speakers include:

  • Ville Partanen, Director of Product Development, DNA
  • Tom Simpson, COO, Cincinnati Bell

Amino’s Evensen notes: “We are thrilled to be able to gather a group of industry heavyweights for the masterclass, as well as our demonstrations. A key for us is that both in our Learning Lab session and in-suite demos, we are able to showcase our industry-first large-scale commercial deployment of Android TV with Finland-based operator DNA – which is providing both mobile and set-top-box end-to-end delivery for its multi-screen TV service, DNA TV-hubi. We are looking forward to sharing our experience and expertise with attendees to NAB 2018.”
