Anevia Supports Extension of HiNet OTT Streaming Platform Capacity

Anevia, a leading provider of OTT and IPTV software solutions, is helping HiNet further expand its extensive TV network. HiNet is the data communications business group of Chunghwa Telecoms, the largest telecommunications company in Taiwan - and the deal marks a new landmark in Anevia’s strategic expansion into the APAC region.

HiNet already broadcasts across 280 channels, with around one hundred thousand OTT users. However, with demand for channels continuing to grow, it has selected Anevia’s NEA-DVR software to add further content delivery network capacity to its infrastructure.

Anevia won the deal following a thorough and highly competitive selection process. HiNet particularly liked the way Anevia’s Origin/Packager is fast and easy to set up, to configure and to use. It is also highly scalable, providing the flexibility HiNet needs to match future demands.

NEA-DVR enables HiNet to stream live and on-demand content in the required multiple protocols (HLS, DASH, MSS), in order to reach all type of end-user devices, while applying multiple DRMs which protects the content.

A further factor in HiNet’s choice was Anevia’s excellent relationship with its local partner, WeiTech. The two companies worked closely together throughout the bid and will continue to do so during implementation and beyond.

“Anevia’s NEA-DVR solution was exactly what we were looking for to provide us with the agility essential to address today’s fast-evolving markets. We are very impressed by the speed in which it could be implemented and how simple it is to use,” said Peter Chou, Section Chief of HiNet.

“Through our regional partnership with WeiTech, not only are we able to grow our presence within APAC but we’re pleased that we will now also be able to support operators like HiNet in providing a seamless and satisfying viewing experience for its viewers. Our NEA-DVR satisfies the growing flexibility needed to meet the demands of the market and to support content delivery, including 4K, while still accommodating Standard Definition (SD) and High Definition (HD) output,” adds Antoine Hugoo, APAC Sales Director Telco & Media.
