Crackerjack is Coming Back with Sam and Mark Presenting

Children's TV favourite Crackerjack is to return to the BBC, 35 years after its last screen outing.

In the new series filmed at dock10, hosts Sam and Mark will follow in the footsteps of previous presenters Eamonn Andrews, Ed "Stewpot" Stewart and Stu Francis.

Last seen in 1984, the teatime staple saw a live studio audience of children entertained by comedy sketches, playful games and music performances.

BBC Scotland, a Nation division within the UK’s British Broadcast Corporation (BBC) and the largest public broadcaster in Scotland, has invested in advanced multi-format switchers from Sony. BBC Scotland has deployed one Sony XVS-8000 switcher in its news studio, and a Sony XVS-7000 switcher in their main general production studio, at Pacific Quay in Glasgow. A second Sony XVS-7000 switcher is installed in their large-format OB truck. The XVS series of advanced 4K/IP professional production switchers provides the foundation for any next-generation IP Live production system. These switchers support SDI and the latest SMPTE ST2110 standard to create mixed IP/SDI production environments, and offer excellent versatility, enhanced frame memory, format conversion, multi-viewer capabilities, and a wide range of video input and output formats. The latest range of Sony switchers now offers advanced workflow flexibility, operational versatility, and advanced integration with Vizrt Mosart. The Sony multi-format video switchers give BBC Scotland create roadmap towards future live broadcasts in 4K and UHD if required.

BBC Studios renews distribution deal with MEASAT in partnership with Globecast
MEASAT Satellite Systems Sdn. Bhd., (MEASAT), in partnership with Globecast, has announced today that BBC Studios, the commercial arm of the BBC, has renewed its agreement to distribute its BBC channels across Asia via the MEASAT-3 satellite.
 
“We are delighted to continue the partnership with Globecast, supporting BBC Studio’s channel distribution across Asia,” said Yau Chyong Lim, Chief Operating Officer, MEASAT. “This service extension with MEASAT and Globecast shows the strength of our 91.5°E video neighbourhood for broadcasters.”
 
The channels include BBC Earth HD, which inspires audiences by sharing the incredible wonders of the universe; CBeebies HD, which provides pre-school age programming to encourage learning through play; and BBC Lifestyle Asia, which provides a wealth of inspiration for home, family and life.
 
Globecast provides MEASAT satellite capacity, ground and uplink services to BBC Studios, carrying these channels to viewers across the Asian market.
