BTES Power 7 Upgrades to PlayBox Neo

PlayBox Neo (www.playboxneo.com) announces the completion of a playout solution for BTES Tennessee, one of the USA's leading IPTV service providers. At the core of the system are Neo-series channel-in-a-box servers which are now being used for the management and playout of BTES Power 7 at the broadcaster's headquarters in Bristol, Tennessee.

"Van Duke and his colleagues at PlayBox Neo have worked closely with us to migrate our channel branding, scheduling and playout infrastructure to latest-generation servers and software,\" comments Chris Sykes, Supervisor of TV Production at BTES. "They cooperated diligently with us to ensure we could achieve live content passthrough, adding our own graphic overlays in addition to prescheduled file-based playout. The new system is configured for full primary and backup operation. It enables us to preschedule all program content, commercials and promo overlays for fully automated transmission."

"Our graphics, scheduling and presentation staff find the PlayBox Neo GUI highly intuitive to operate, all tools and information necessary to the task in hand being clearly displayed. Additional tools can be accessed quickly within the GUI. Most important of all, the Neo series alerts the production team if additional actions are required to complete a specific playout routine."

"It's been a great pleasure working with BTES on this project,\" adds PlayBox Neo USA Director of Operations Van Duke. "The solution we provided includes two 3U Neo series platforms populated with the TitleBox Neo graphics preparation module, the ListBox Neo advance scheduler, the DataBox Neo media manager and QCBox Neo automated quality controller."

Designed for 24/7 unattended operation, Neo-series systems can also be operated manually. The Neo series and its SaaS-based equivalent, Cloud2TV, can deliver output in baseband SD, HD or UHD, in DVB/ATSC-compliant IP streams and in web-based formats such as RTMP. Simulcasting of SDI and single or multiple IP streams is also possible.

Bristol Tennessee Essential Services (BTES) is a municipally-owned electric utility that also provides high-speed Internet, telephone and cable television services over a fiber to the home network. BTES Power 7 (www.btes.net) is a local television station that airs on BTES cable channel 7 and in HD on channel 207. The purpose of this channel is to highlight the community activity as well as BTES and its products and services. BTES works with area cultural, industrial, economic and educational partners to showcase the Bristol community, promote continued job growth and economic development and highlight academic, athletic and career development and opportunities. BTES also provides some of the fastest internet speeds available in the United States with ten gigabits per second available to every business and home in its service area.
