At Jordans Al-Mamlaka TV, IHSE KVM Systems Keep Live Broadcasts Running Smoothly in Landmark New Broadcast Center

IHSE, the leading manufacturer of high-end KVM (keyboard-video-mouse) solutions for extension and switching of computer signals, today announced that Al-Mamlaka TV, Jordan's first state-funded public service news broadcaster, has adopted IHSE KVM solutions for its all-new, state-of-the-art broadcast facility in the capital city of Amman.

Launched in 2018, Al-Mamlaka TV operates from a greenfield, futuristic new broadcasting center in Amman, with a 24/7 lineup of HD news and public affairs shows airing on both linear and OTT platforms. Al-Mamlaka TV worked with an IHSE systems integrator to design the landmark broadcast center, which boasts several firsts in the region: one of the first facilities to embrace virtualization, one of the first to feature a motorized video wall, and the first to make extensive use of augmented reality (AR). The centerpiece of the Al-Mamlaka TV facility is a 400-square-meter, seven-camera studio with five sets and an open design connecting it to the newsroom one floor below. A second, four-camera studio features three predesigned sets, and a third smaller studio looks out on an impressive view of the Amman skyline.

Quicklink TX allows FreeSports Rugby League Back Chat to stay on air amid COVID-19 Posted: 18/05/2020
Quicklink TX allows FreeSports and rsquo; Rugby League Back Chat to stay on air amid COVID-19

The Quicklink TX has been enlisted by oXyFire Media to assist in remotely producing FreeSports’ Rugby League Back Chat programme amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The Skype TX technology has enabled the show to remotely introduce presenters and guests while the usual studio-based production is not able to take place.

Rugby League Back Chat is a 60-minute show produced by PHA Broadcast and broadcast on FreeSportsTV. The programme is in its 8th series and hosted by Matt Shaw and is the UK’s essential weekly Rugby League TV debate show.

“It’s not quite as bad as having a chat show with nothing to chat about; but having a sports chat show with no sport to chat about does have its challenges.” say’s Producer Paul Davies of PHA Broadcast. “As a 30-episode programmes, Rugby League Back Chat was only 3 programmes into its current series when the lockdown was announced meaning not only was there no sport to talk about, but no guests to talk about no sport.”

Due to the current COVID-19 outbreak and social distancing rules, the most obvious prospect was to cancel the series or at least put it on hold until it was safe to return to the outside world. PHA Broadcast required a method of continuing the Rugby League Back Chat show without requiring the presenter and guests to visit a studio and sit side-by-side.

Dejero Supports COVID-19 Business Continuity Strategy at The Jewellery Channel Posted: 14/05/2020
Dejero Supports COVID-19 Business Continuity Strategy at The Jewellery Channel

Dejero, an innovator in cloud-managed solutions that provide Emmy® award winning video transport and Internet connectivity while mobile or in remote locations, has provided British teleshopping channel The Jewellery Channel (TJC) with EnGo mobile transmitters, a WayPoint receiver, a CuePoint return feed server and complimentary LivePlus mobile apps, that have formed a key part of the broadcaster's business continuity plan during the COVID-19 pandemic. TJC has also been using this Dejero equipment to lead a significant change in how live teleshopping is produced and broadcast.

"While we intend to continue broadcasting from our main studio in Surrey house, London, for as long as possible, we are all dependent on government policy during this extraordinary time and TJC wanted to be ready to broadcast from home if this was required," said Martin Willingham, technical director at TJC. "Dejero's technology has been a great comfort blanket for us in that scenario. As one of the main TV shopping channels in the UK, we broadcast 24/7, 365 days a year and our reputation depends on us not having technical problems. The reliability and sturdiness of the Dejero workflow has really impressed us."

Bridge Technologies Partner with Appear TV to Provide Advanced IP-based Production and Distribution Posted: 14/05/2020
Bridge Technologies Partner with Appear TV to Provide Advanced IP-based Production and Distribution

On the back of their recent announcement of the new Integrated Services Monitoring (ISM) model, Bridge Technologies has demonstrated the value and robustness of their approach with technology collaborators Appear, in a setup which facilitates end-to-end delivery and monitoring of data, uncompressed to compressed, from production to end user.

ISM seeks to bring together the Bridge Technologies portfolio of products into a turnkey, easy-to-install media monitoring system.

It represents Bridge’s recognition of the increasingly merged and hybridized nature of the industry, where single entities may now operate on multiple layers of the broadcast and media cycle; from production through signal acquisition, contribution streams, picture archiving, OTT/streaming media, to traditional broadcast distribution with DTT or Satellite.

The advanced IP-based production and distribution setup – which would have also been demoed at NAB this year – is a successfully tested proof of concept for a full-length monitoring solution from production to end user, using standards SDI, SPTS, MPTS and OTT. The setup has been fully tested with four cameras with SDI outputs feeding an IP network processor to seamlessly bridge SDI and IP networks.

ASG Ships Remote Production Kits as Clients Face At-Home Content Creation Challenges

Advanced Systems Group has shipped more than 120 remote production kits to its clients over the past two months, as content creators have continued to work from home during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The broadcast technical community has stepped up with creative solutions to enable video production to continue outside of traditional studio environments, and corporate communications professionals have followed suit,” said Dave Van Hoy, president of ASG. “As an industry, we have learned the importance of providing high-quality equipment for content creators working from home. Our remote production kits are helping clients produce professional results despite the inherent limitations of at-home productions.”

Designed to accommodate various levels of expertise, ASG’s remote production kits collect the equipment necessary to produce and stream professional video content, including lighting kits, laptops, high-quality microphones, and DSLR cameras with desktop tripods and prompters.
