CACHE-A APPOINTS MEDIACAST AS MIDDLE EAST DISTRIBUTOR
Cache-A Corporation (www.cache-a.com), manufacturer of award-winning archiving appliances, today announced it has appointed MediaCast (www.mediacastsys.com) as its distributor for the UAE and wider Middle East region. Chosen for its technological prowess and market knowledge of the Middle Eastern media and entertainment industry, MediaCast has made an immediate impact having already secured several Cache-A sales to leading broadcasters, post-production facilities and cultural institutions.

MediaCast is a premier media technology distributor based in Dubai, from where it serves the whole of the Middle East. A trusted partner for a range of renowned media equipment and software manufacturers, resellers and commercial customers, MediaCast has played an integral role in the regional media industry for more than 12 years. MediaCast brings technology solutions to a breadth of markets including broadcast, post-production houses, film and music studios, educational institutions, system integrators, web-streaming solution providers, digital storage houses and live-production facilities.

Cache-A manufactures LTFS LTO-tape archiving appliances that simplify the whole process of archiving, and which fit into any workflow, be it on-set, production or post-production. The companys LTO-6 product family includes: the desktop Prime-Cache6, flagship Pro-Cache6, high-performance Power-Cache, flexible Library 24/48 automation systems, and brand new LTO-Sidecar expansion drive.

Cache-A has also recently released new, high-performance products and features. These include the Pro-Cache610, a new, turbo-charged version of its flagship Pro-Cache6 LTO-6 archive appliance, featuring 10-gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) I/O capability, which significantly boosts the speed and power of network archiving operations. Recent feature advances include Simul-Copy¢, a trailblazing LTO-tape duplication and verification capability that slashes the time needed to create multiple LTO-tape copies.

Cache-As archiving appliances can manage 100s of Terabytes of data, written using the industry-standard tar format, or LTFS (Linear Tape File System) capability.
Versatile I/O connectivity options facilitate their deployment in on-set carts, with SAN/NAS systems in post and robotic libraries. The built-in catalog database enables Cache-A appliances to remember every single Cache-A tape ever loaded.

With Cache-A, users can easily search, retrieve and interchange content across different platforms, software applications and physical locations, as well as deliver content to their clients.

The Middle East is an important and growing media arena, with a lot of local content as well as content coming in from other regions, said Mark Ostlund, VP of marketing and sales at Cache-A. MediaCast has a resourceful, highly-respected team, and a portfolio of video products and solutions that are a perfect complement to Cache-As archiving solutions.

As the video industry moves towards the digital realm, reliable and efficient archiving solutions are imperative to sustain progress, said Peyman Dadpanah, Business Director at MediaCast. Cache-A makes archiving easy, serving workflows for production, post production and broadcast applications all the markets that MediaCast services. As the new distributor for the Middle East region, we are actively educating the market and resellers about the capabilities of Cache-A and its long-standing reputation in media archiving, and have already started to create a solid customer base.

Details of first customers to have invested in Cache-A archiving appliances, via MediaCast, will be releases in due course.

Vitec Production Solutions at the BSC Expo
Making its official debut at the BSC Expo will be the all-new dual-battery bracket, which enables users to power a Gemini panel with two industry-standard 14.4V broadcast camera batteries mounted directly to the yoke or light stand. With its extremely lightweight and on-board, ballast-free power supply, Gemini has always been easy to transport and rig at on-location shoots. Now it's even more practical in situations where portable power is preferred over mains power, including a broad range of ENG and ENP applications. Unlike competing LED panels, which can only generate 50 percent of their maximum output when battery-powered, Gemini can operate at up to 100 percent intensity running from mains and battery power alike.
