Masstech Announces James Whitebread As New CDO

Masstech is pleased to announce that James Whitebread has joined the company as Chief Digital Officer.

James has a 15-year background in product design and development for sports and media and entertainment (M&E), and extensive experience in telecoms and security. He has led product development and builds for diverse clients including IMG, BT, UEFA, Disney, Warner Bros., FIFA, Technicolor, Amazon Prime, TATA and Cardinal Heath Care.

Before joining Masstech, James was CTO at MarcoPolo Learning, supporting the company’s expansion into China through delivery of new products and services. Prior to that, James was VP of Product and Technology for UI Centric, leading projects for high profile clients such as UEFA, FIFA, AMC, PIX Systems and VUBIQUITY to deliver products and services such as UEFA.TV and MUTV.

Previously James was Director of Digital at Technicolor, where he designed and built the Showcase platform that went on to service clients including Canal Plus, Entertainment One and Warner Bros.

James holds a BSc in Business Systems, and is currently studying for an MBA at Wrexham University, along with a Professional Qualification in Platform Disruption at MIT.

Evolutions, Soho's largest independent post production facility, has announced the official launch of Earth, its new boutique digital studio which services the commercials, design, promos and VFX industries. Earth has already completed a number of commercials for clients including Nokia and McDonalds, and will be working on a wide variety of projects.

"Before we embarked on this project, we knew that it was an opportunity to create an ideal environment for creative work. By building a facility from the ground up, rather than fitting into existing infrastructure, we have been able to design a flexible and creative workflow where we can look at each individual project and choose the right talent and tools for the job," said James Niklasson, Senior Producer, Earth.

Earth is equipped with three fully-featured hero suites based around Flame, Smoke and Avid DS Nitris HD, with an additional 20 supporting desktop workstations for CGI and VFX work. Different systems can be accessed from each suite, allowing a very collaborative way of working. Although it is a self-contained facility, Earth has the added advantage of being connected to Evolutions' network via fibre channel, so background work such as dubs can be done offsite to save tying up creative machines.
