From Features to Commercials, One Constant for Koretz is Petrol Bags Posted: 19/11/2013
Whether cinematographer Eric Koretz is prepping for his recent feature Comet, directed by Sam Esmail, or commercials for Motorola and American Airlines, the one constant for him is Petrol Bags, part of Vitec Videocom, a Vitec Group company. Often these shoots involve heavy traveling, Koretz says. One thing I dont have to worry about is the condition of my equipment as we move because its always packed in my Petrol Bags. I chose them because they are simply versatile, have unique features and are well built.

The call of the mountains ski films with the Cine 7+7 HD and FSB 8 from Sachtler Posted: 07/11/2013
Its a tradition: for over 64 years, the ski season has begun in the theaters every year with a new action documentary by Warren Miller Entertainment. The promotional films tour the world, whetting the appetites of ski and snowboarding fans alike and encouraging them to partake in winter sports. For some years now, cinematographer and director Tom Day has been responsible for the creative realization of the films. While Day does not know where the assignment will take him prior to filming, he already has his equipment ready to go beforehand; during filming in the snow worldwide, he always relies on the Sachtler Cine 7+7 HD and FSB 8 fluid heads. Sachtler is part of Vitec Videocom, a Vitec Group company.

Michos Takes On Music and Dance With OConnor for Langston Hughes Memoire Black Nativity Posted: 24/10/2013
Music and dance are a big part of the contemporary adaptation of Langston Hughes holiday musical drama, Black Nativity. It follows Langston (Jacob Latimore), a street-wise teen from Baltimore as he journeys to New York City to spend the Christmas holiday with his estranged grandparents. While attending his Grandfathers church production of Black Nativity, Langston falls asleep and escapes into a dreamscape of song, dance, and a little divine intervention. Practically every dance or song number relied on instinct and the ability to whip pan. Snap zoom, or even grab the focus in the process of discovering the most dynamic shots, says cinematographer Anastas Michos, ASC. Thats where my favorite support the OConnor 2575 was invaluable. OConnor is part of Vitec Videocom, a Vitec Group company.

The ICG Presents Corey Carbonara with the Nat Tiffen Award Posted: 16/10/2013

The Tiffen Company, a leading manufacturer of award-winning imaging accessories, extends its praise to Baylor University Professor Corey Carbonara, who was recently presented with the inaugural Nat Tiffen Award by the International Cinematographers Guild (ICG, IATSE Local 600) at its 17th annual Emerging Cinematographer Awards. One of four award recipients, Dr. Carbonara was honored for his educational contributions to the art of cinematography. He serves as the Director of the Digital Communication Technologies Project at Baylor, which is currently working on research about augmented reality and new immersive visual 3D environments. I am so honored to have been selected by the International Cinematographers Guild to receive the prestigious Nat Tiffen Award for outstanding educational contributions to the art and craft of cinematography, Carbonara commented in a press release issued by Baylor University (more info). Getting this from the ICG and having it presented to me at the American Society of Cinematographers (ASC) Clubhouse is such a wonderful blessing. I have always admired the creative genius of the ASC and ICG over the years, and to receive an award named after Nat Tiffen humbles me.
