FilmLight creates Cold War look for The Americans

The sixth and final Emmy award winning series of The Americans, a period spy thriller set in the 1980s during the Cold War, was recently finished in HDR and 4K Ultra HD at Technicolor PostWorks in New York. Since series two, the look of the finished series has been the responsibility of John Crowley, Senior Digital Colourist, working on the Baselight colour grading system from FilmLight.

3sixtymedia, which provides post-production, creative services and studio crewing for broadcast productions in the north of England, has added a Baselight TWO colour grading system with Blackboard control panel. House of Cards gets 4k finish with FilmLights Baselight

The second series of House of Cards, Netflixs hugely popular political drama, was released on 14 February and made available to subscribers in 4k Ultra HD. Encore, a Deluxe Entertainment Services company, handled the shows post production, with Lead Colourist Laura Jans-Fazio grading in uncompressed 4k at the post-production and VFX companys Los Angeles location. To achieve the desired results, she leveraged a Baselight TWO system and Blackboard control surface.

Colourist Jamie Parry joins dock10

dock10, the MediaCityUK-based media services provider, has appointed Jamie Parry as Colourist as its state-of-the-art post-production facility continues to expand.

RTS-nominated Parry spent nine years at Sumners where he worked on a range of features, high-end drama and documentaries. Image Systems has added Adam Hawkey to its staff of strategic consultants, as the Nucoda and Phoenix product solutions continue to be the premium choice for colour grading, mastering and restoration in the industry. Hawkey is a respected DI colourist and technical professional who has worked in a number of leading facilities. A recognised expert, Hawkey has been working with Image Systems on a range of consulting projects, and came on-board as staff this summer.
