Broadpeak Continues to Transform Live Video Streaming With Launch of nanoCDN Multicast ABR 2.0 Posted: 25/04/2017
Broadpeak(R), leading provider of content delivery network (CDN) technologies and live and video-on-demand (VOD) servers for content providers and pay-TV operators worldwide, today announced a new version of its groundbreaking nanoCDN(TM) solution. The release of nanoCDN multicast adaptive bitrate (ABR) 2.0 makes live HTTP video delivery to any device truly scalable by turning millions of broadband gateways, cable modems, Wi-Fi routers, or set-top boxes (STBs) into active components of an operators content delivery infrastructure. A variety of advanced features have been added to the product, including low latency for live video streaming and live HTTP TV service delivery via satellite, with successful integration into more than 70 Consumer Premises Equipment (CPE) from third-party technology partners.

Irdeto Survey: Millennials Shaping Video Piracy in the Middle East and North Africa Posted: 20/03/2017

A new online consumer piracy survey from Irdeto, the world leader in digital platform security, found that over half of respondents polled in MENA - 59% in Egypt and 53% in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) - admitted to watching pirated video content. The research also revealed that millennials are among the most likely to illegally consume content, with 62% of 18-24 year-olds in the GCC and 64% in Egypt stating they watch pirated video content. In addition, 20% of 18-24 year-olds in the GCC and 23% in Egypt pirate more than once a week.

Nearly Half of Consumers Around the Globe Are Willing to Stop or Watch Less Pirated Video Content Posted: 08/03/2017

Irdeto, the world leader in digital platform security, has released results of the largest consumer piracy survey ever conducted. The Irdeto Global Consumer Piracy Survey of more than 25,000 adults across 30 countries found that despite the high number of consumers around the globe watching pirated video content (52%), nearly half (48%) would stop or watch less illegal content after learning the damage that piracy causes the media industry. This willingness by nearly half of consumers to change their viewing habits speaks to the huge impact that education could have on reducing the number of people who pirate video content.

Pay-TV providers neglect customer experience at their peril, new Paywizard research reveals Posted: 26/01/2017

Pay-TV operators can no longer simply rely on the strength of their content offering to maintain subscriber loyalty but must raise their customer relationship management game to gain ground in an increasingly competitive marketplace, new global research from subscription, billing and CRM specialist Paywizard shows. The survey of more than 6,200 consumers reveals 24% have cancelled a digital pay-TV service in the previous 12 months because of poor customer experience, while 84% say they would terminate a relationship with a TV provider if service and support were lacking and the company seemed out of touch with their needs.

Piksel research reveals broadcasters and content providers need to be more switched on to avoid the big switch off Posted: 14/12/2016

Viewers are spending too long on searching for good content, according to new consumer research commissioned by Piksel, a global leader in building successful online video businesses. The study, conducted by Censuswide, found that consumers spend an average of 16 minutes searching for content and when they dont find anything, the majority will look elsewhere. Choosing multiple options, half would change the channel, 19% would change providers, and 38% would switch off entirely.

Global Survey Uncovers New Data on Young Viewers Driving Next Generation Viewing Experiences through Connected Devices and Internet TV 

Young viewers are driving next generation content services with their high expectations of personalized services, penchant for binge viewing and use of connected devices, according to new global research from Irdeto, the world leader in Multiscreen, Revenue Assurance and Media Protection solutions. The research revealed that roughly a third of American (36%) and UK (30%) consumers see personalized recommendations as either important or very important, however this rises to 45% for 18-34 year olds in the US and 55% among 18-24 year olds in the UK.
