Doremi supplied Dimension-3D Universal 3D Format Converters to enable the viewing of S-3D content submitted for the Film Festival at the Dimension 3 Forum held Seine St. Denis near Paris.
The Dimension-3D Format Converter was used to allow 3D material to be viewed by the Jury judging the 'Independent production' category, one of five at the Festival. As this comprised self-produced programmes, school projects, student thesis films, the material was supplied on a range of formats that the converter was able to present in the format required for the 3D screens.
Patrick Zucchetta, EMEA Digital Cinema Business Development at Doremi commented, "Ever since the introduction digital television, formats have been multiplying fast. Doremi has long been active in the area of video converters and now 3D has literally added a new dimension for formats to expand into. Dimension-3D is a very easy plug-and-play answer for those wanting to convert between two channels of 2D and 3D formats."
Dimension-3D converts any 3D format to any other. It can fit into virtually all stereoscopic workflows allowing any 3D input stream format to be used with all types of currently available displays, including high-end projectors and the latest generation of 3D-ready LCD screens. It also includes frame-rate conversion. Among applications are converting stereoscopic camera rig outputs for recorders and displays, and enabling double-stack 3D projection By encoding left and right eye streams into a single HDSDI stream, and back, enables recording 3D content on standard HD recorders. It can also work with Doremi's Nugget or V1 servers, to create a cost-effective 3D playout solution.
