Dedo lights up the industry with new LEDs

Date: 04/03/2013
Dedo lights up the industry with new LEDs

The highly anticipated range of LED lights from Dedo is now complete, with the arrival of the DLED 2.0 and DLED 9.0.

The latest additions are available in tungsten, daylight and bi-colour versions and feature Dedo’s double aspheric optics which provide the huge focusing range, clean beam and smooth light distribution that users have come to expect.

Originally designed for film makers, and highly sought after by television directors and stills photographers, the dedolight is the light of choice across the industry. Previewed at IBC 2012 and now shipping, the entire LED range maintains the traditions and heritage of the brand, to deliver unprecedented control over the shape, direction and focus of the light.

David Morphy of the distributor, Cirro Lite, explains that Dedo was unwilling merely to follow the LED trend:

“Dedo cares passionately about visual quality. It has taken years of research, development and component testing for the company to be absolutely certain of the reliability and consistency of every LED bulb it uses. As a result, these new lights are phenomenal. Light distribution is perfectly even, dimming has no effect on colour performance and light output is outstandingly high.”

Available in five different sizes (Ledzilla, DLED 2.0, DLED 4.0, DLED 9.0 and DLED 12.0), the series sets a new standard in LED excellence, with unparalleled build quality, light output, and user control.

Dedolight users will be able to experience the complete set of lights for the first time at the London event. Also on show will be the gobos, reflectors, skrims, lenses, domes and other accessories that are a core feature of the range.

A Choir Performance In Kuala Lumpur Achieved Crystal Clear Sound Thanks To DPA Microphones Posted: 12/11/2019
A Choir Performance In Kuala Lumpur Achieved Crystal Clear Sound Thanks To DPA Microphones

DPA Microphones’ recently launched 4097 CORE Supercardioid Choir Microphone was used to great effect in Kuala Lumpur when a choir of 12 men and women gathered in Independence Square to mark the 50th anniversary of the Department of Enforcement, Kuala Lumpur City Hall.

The event, entitled Hari Penguatkuasa DBKL, featured a parade in conjunction with the Golden Jubilee Celebration of Enforcement Day. It culminated in a live performance by the DBKL City Hall Choir who performed in front of an audience of approximately 2,000 people.

Mr Ajun Mubari, head of Malaysian audio rental company Mubari, says DPA’s 4097 CORE Supercardioid Choir Microphones were chosen to amplify the choir because their integrated shock mount and wind screen made them ideally suited to outdoor use.

“The 4097 microphone is awesome and very easy to work with,” he says. “We used one pair to cover the choir group and positioned them on either side of the choir who were standing in a semi-circle. The concert generated very high sound pressure levels – in excess of 90dB – but thanks to the 4097’s high isolation, the sound coming from the stage monitors (which were placed in front of the choir and behind the microphones) did not affect the available gain during the performance. This was a huge advantage as it meant we could capture the true sound of the choir without picking up any other sound.”

Imperial College London and Three Media implement and ldquo;near and rdquo; real time platform optimisation

Three Media, media specialist and product provider of XEN:Pipeline, today announced the completion of an 18-month project in conjunction with Imperial College London. The goal of the project was to make media supply chain processing more affordable by identifying ways to reduce costs and maximise workflow, process and resource efficiencies.

The project, called Digital Media Data Analytics (DMDA), was initiated and led by Three Media in conjunction with an Imperial College London team headed by Performance Engineering expert Dr Anthony Field. The combined team applied its expert knowledge of data analytics and optimisation techniques to Three Media's XEN:Pipeline development programme.

XEN:Pipeline enables users not only to evaluate and optimise existing workflows and business processes in near real time, but also to model new and changing virtual revenue streams either as stand-alone or alongside the existing. It also provides opportunities to identify, model, and prove new and innovative services and chargeable functions. XEN:Pipeline is a highly configurable, scalable, storage agnostic and performant system that can operate across multiple company and supplier locations and departments, identifying and resolving often-hidden bottlenecks, pinch points and under-utilisation from existing workflows and processes.

Nash TV channel in Ukraine chooses two Calrec Artemis consoles for 24 7 news programming

Ukraine news TV channel Nash TV has purchased two 32-fader Artemis Light audio consoles for its Kiev-based 24/7 programming. Nash TV is a new customer and is a significant addition to Calrec’s success in the country.

Alexander Filipushko, Chief Sound Engineer at Nash TV, commented, “Our sound engineers are well educated on the current consoles on the market, and Calrec’s Artemis came out to be the ideal console for our needs given its quality of performance, with premium built-in processing and sophisticated networking options. We love having the ability to use both MADI and Dante cards. LAURA PODOLAK WADDELL JOINS GRAVITY MEDIA TO MANAGE ITS NORTH AMERICAN STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS Posted: 11/11/2019
LAURA PODOLAK WADDELL JOINS GRAVITY MEDIA TO MANAGE ITS NORTH AMERICAN STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS

Gravity Media, the leading global provider of complex live broadcast facilities and production services to content owners, creators and distributors, has appointed former Pac-12 Networks Sr. Director, Content Production Laura Podolak Waddell as its new Director, Strategic Partnership Management for North America. Laura joins the team to enhance brand relationships with a focus on an ongoing studio operations project that Gravity Media is overseeing for a major media and technology brand.

After nearly a decade of local news production for radio stations in Colorado and California, Laura became part of Pac-12 Networks’ launch team in 2012. The considerable amount of broadcasting experience she gained during her time there has led her to join Gravity Media where she will bring teams across the country closer together to streamline production processes and improve content output for clients. As Laura emphasises, the role comprises everything that fascinates her about production; “compelling content, a fast-paced environment and all the unique personalities of content creators.”

Laura’s past seven years at Pac-12 Networks were focused on relationship building, enhancing communication across content teams and implementing production best practices. The biggest challenge she’s seen in the broadcasting industry over that time was engaging a young audience, finding out where the younger viewers are consuming content and what sports they’re most interested in watching to entice the next generation of fans. “Nobody can predict exactly where media consumption is going, but what we do know, is that people want to watch engaging content,” she notes.

Maggie Rogers Shines Brightly With Sapphire Touches Posted: 11/11/2019
Maggie Rogers Shines Brightly With Sapphire Touches

MIRRAD supplies two Avolites consoles for Ben Everett’s design for producer, songwriter and performer’s headlining tour

A lot has happened in Maggie Rogers’ world since 2016, when a video of her demoing a then-newly-recorded song, “Alaska,” for Pharrell Williams at NYU went viral. Following opening slots on major tours with both HAIM and Mumford & Sons last year, Rogers dropped her own major label debut, Heard It in a Past Life, this past January, which charted in the second highest slot of the Billboard 200. Consequently, the artist has spent much of 2019 on the road in support of the album, performing a sold-out fall headline tour in such iconic venues as Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium, Berkley’s Greek Theatre, and New York City’s Radio City Music Hall.

The “look and feel” of Rogers’ tour this year has been a collaborative effort between the artist and Lighting Designer Ben Everett, who first started working with her when he lit Rogers’ first-ever show in London two years ago. Having toured with an impressive roster of bands over the past five years—including Bear's Den, The Jesus and Mary Chain, and The Dandy Warhols—Everett is now part of the UK-based MIRRAD team, which has been supplying a pair of Avolites Sapphire Touch lighting control consoles for Rogers’ 2019 worldwide trek.

Everett notes that he’s been using Avolites lighting consoles “pretty much since I started in the live music industry,” he shares. “I was lucky enough to learn on all of the early Titan software, and mainly used the Tiger Touch II and Quartz consoles to begin with. The features that kept me attracted to the desks at first were the ability to quickly create really impressive and intricate effects, and the user-friendly and multi-functional layout of the touchscreens. And while growing with the consoles over the years, the ease of being able to create cue stacks, key frame shapes, and pixel mapping really helps me in my day-to-day programming now.”

disguise gx range powers video intensive MTV 2019 VMA and rsquo;s show

In August 2019, MTV hosted its 36th Annual Video Music Awards at the Prudential Center in Newark, USA. The awards saw performances from some of the biggest names in the modern music including Taylor Swift, Shawn Mendes, Missy Elliot, and Miley Cyrus to name but a few. Broadcast globally, the show saw an audience of over 1.5million tune in to watch the show.

The show featured an eye-popping array of video elements throughout the show with used during performances and for stage design and text listings of performers and presenters. Entertainment design firm Visual Noise Creative LLC deployed ten disguise gx 2 media servers to facilitate the video intensive environment.

Jesse Ignjatovic, Co-Founder of the live entertainment production company Den of Thieves, executive produced this year’s show and helped spearhead the use of impressive visuals for the VMAs.

“MTV and Viacom continues to push the limits on television production year over year, and for us that means new scenery with massive amounts of integrated video,” says Trevor Burk, Creative Director and Screens Producer at Visual Noise Creative. “The set that Julio Himede designed this year was no exception and was almost entirely made of video. We needed a platform that enabled us to be creative, flexible and fast enough to get this monster of a show on its feet in a short amount of time.”

As the top-line audio editing software brand for television and music mixers and producers around the world, NUGEN Audio has gained significant notoriety throughout the industry. When Mix Engineer Jorel Corpus received a copy of the company’s Producer bundle at an event surrounding the GRAMMY’s, he soon realized it was the perfect complement to his existing workflow for his range of music and television projects.

Corpus explains that prior to receiving the software, he had heard great things about NUGEN and, after using the plug-ins, he quickly realized the full breadth of the solutions’ benefits. “A lot of industry friends and colleagues who I trust use NUGEN,” he says. “I had wanted to use the company’s solutions for a while, so when I received the Producer bundle, it was perfect timing. PMC Speakers is delighted to announce that Vintage Studios has been appointed as its official distributor in Thailand, with responsibility for the company’s entire range of professional monitoring products.

Located in the Bang Na district of Bangkok, Vintage Studios was established in 2002 by the Puengrusme family as a commercial music recording, mixing and mastering facility.
