Deja Soft releases Deja Edit Version 3

Date: 28/05/2020
Deja Soft releases Deja Edit Version 3

For Immediate Release, 28 May 2020, Gothenburg, Sweden - Dynamic tech start-up DejaSoft has launched Version 3 of its cutting-edge media file synchronising software tool - DejaEdit. An essential application vital for film productions, DejaEdit enables Avid editors to work together from any location by ensuring that media and bins are copied securely and in the background, between each remote editing station or Nexus / EditShare storage system.

DejaEdit 3 includes exciting innovations that enhances the editor’s user experience and provides improved workflow management, efficiency, and additional reliable security features. These new upgrade developments are crucial toolsets designed to also support producers and post supervisors in simplifying complex media file sharing activities across the entire production process.

Some of the highlights featured in DejaEdit 3 include the option for users to use their own S3 account for Cloud media storage; upgraded “Private and Public” bin sharing abilities; sophisticated “Folder Support”; “Notifications”; partial media downloads to each editor; License key safeguards; and the brand new DejaEdit Manager, outlined below.

NEW:ENHANCED FOLDER SUPPORT AND NOTIFICATIONS

In brief, DejaEdit uses an intuitive “email” style interface, which is presented within the Avid environment, where bins and metadata can be shared with other users by simply dropping it into the “Outbox”, “ToSet” or “ToVFX” folders. What’s new in DejaEdit’s Version 3 is that editors can now add subfolders to these pre-set folders to further help organise shared media assets. Also new, is a notification system to alert editors about newly available material and the location of that shared content.

NEW: UPGRADED PUBLIC AND PRIVATE BIN SHARING

Another new feature that improves efficient working is the ability to share bins with selected users, and all users. These beneficial features are again intuitively presented as subfolders within the “Outbox” structure. Each connected user has a dedicated folder in the Outbox. Bins dropped into these folders, will only be shared with the specified user.

NEW: DEJAEDIT MANAGER AND ADDITIONAL SECURITY LOCKS

“DejaEdit Manager” is another significant new element aimed at post-production supervisors in Version 3. It provides the post supervisor with the capability to control both the workflow and the security of sharing sessions. For example, a supervisor can lock DejaEdit licenses to the unique ID (UUID) of a given computer to protect assets from being shared to unauthorised systems.

The post supervisor can also use DejaEdit Manager to control which folders each edit station can receive, downloaded from the Cloud server. Apart from adding a higher level of security, this new feature also allows a supervisor to efficiently divide the workload by granting an editor access to only the material they need for their specific part of the project.

Additionally, DejaEdit Manager allows the supervisor to access the project backups made by editors.

NEW: FLEXIBILITY TO USE OWN S3 ACCOUNT FOR CLOUD STORAGE

DejaEdit 3 also allows the use of the client’s own cloud storage via Amazon Web Services S3, Wasabi Hot Cloud or Backblaze. This enables a client to have ownership over the whole sharing operation. For further details about all of the new features in DejaEdit 3, visit http://dejasoft.com/dejaedit

Sweden-based DejaSoft co-owners Clas Hakeröd and Nikolai Waldman, both accomplished Avid editors are passionate about finding ground-breaking ways to help increase productivity for post production professionals.

Nikolai Waldman, DejaSoft’s CTO stated, “In DejaEdit 3 we have developed robust new features that customers have requested which further helps to facilitate editing processes and productivity. It’s a unique approach unlike anything anyone else is doing in the industry.”

“DejaEdit 3 has been boosted with many new functions that help to further streamline editing workflows. Editors and producers can benefit from DejaEdit’s collaborative efficiency in how media files and metadata are shared in a project both remotely, and in the same location or on set, and we are always looking at ways of fine-tuning features to suit customer’s needs. In addition, we have introduced an affordable pricing structure on our website which will appeal to many production companies, producers, editors and post companies alike.” said Clas Hakeröd CEO of DejaSoft.

DejaEdit has already successfully been used by award-winning post-production professionals on notable film projects. Oscar award-nominated editor Yorgos Mavropsaridis, ACE of "The Favourite", "The Lobster" and "Exit Plan" is a fan of DejaEdit. Editor Rickard Krantz, s.f.k. used DejaEdit in the “The Perfect Patient” which was nominated for Sweden’s Guldbagge award for Best Editing. Well-known Scandinavian producer Daniel Lägersten at B.Academy who produced popular TV series “Riverside” and “The Spiral”, said “DejaEdit is a game-changer” and film producer Anna Knochenhauer relies on DejaEdit for all her productions and said there is “no looking back” after using it recently in “Alone in Space”, “We Got This” and “White Wall”.

New software release DejaEdit 3 is compatible with workflows for all Avid Media Composer and Nexus editors, and now available to purchase. Quotations can be requested online by using the calculator on the pricing page of the website that provides an estimate cost (https://dejasoft.com/pricing/) or email sales@DejaSoft.com.
