Design Original Wins Best Exhibition Stand Jackpot in Vegas

Published: 24 April 2018

Design Original, a marketing services agency specialising in exhibitions and events, today announced that its exhibition stand design and execution for longstanding client, Ericsson Media Solutions has won the ACE Exhibits ‘Stand of the Show' award in the Large Island category at NAB 2018 in Las Vegas.

NAB Show is the broadcast industry’s leading trade show. It is where ground-breaking technology is unveiled, innovative solutions are displayed and game-changing trends are exposed. The show is held every year in Las Vegas. It typically attracts over 1,700 exhibitors and over 100,000 visitors from over 160 countries.

The Design Original booth for Ericsson Media Solutions was the result of seven months of creative thinking, 3D and graphic designing and visualising, client and contractor meetings and careful project management and planning - which culminated in eight days on-site to build the 325 square meter exhibit in the Las Vegas Convention Centre.

"Ericsson Media Solutions challenged us to develop an engaging, demonstration-focused experience and a new 'look and feel' for their presence at NAB 2018,” said Brendon Fear, Creative Director Design & Strategy, Design Original.

“We worked closely with the Ericsson Media Solutions team to design a stand that focused on the customer journey and on how visitors would interact across multiple touchpoints. Digital surfaces, materials and textures were carefully selected to express an industrial, yet elegant look and feel, all aimed at providing a creative space that enhanced the overall visitor experience. The result was an immersive award-winning environment with a beautiful juxtaposition between an industrial feel and Ericsson's visionary product demonstrations,\" concluded Fear.

The Ericsson Media Solutions exhibition stand comprised a reception area, café and bar, board room, two meeting rooms, press room, three technical rooms, suspended LED screen and four defined screen-based demonstration zones.

The industry award recognises creative design excellence, the overall visitor experience, product presentations and the quality of stand build. The awards committee selected a short list and then announced Ericsson Media Solutions as the award winner on the penultimate day of the show. This decision was based upon the following criteria:

Attention Grabbing: The exhibit was designed in a way that grabbed the visual attention of attendees. Use of colour, lighting, imagery, A/V, motion, graphics and text, reasonable sound, unique materials, etc.

Use of Space: The stand space was designed to make entrance, navigation and exit easy and ensured the best experience for visitors.

Product Presentation: Products were presented in an appealing, accessible, informative and interactive manner.

Engagement: Attendees were drawn into the stand and engaged by activities, proactive stand staff, presentations, hands-on demonstrations, games, etc., and at the same time there was adequate room to meet with clients.

"A lot of time and effort goes into the design and planning of an event of this size and it's great to be recognised by our industry for the creativity and quality of our stand. We worked hand-in-hand with our design partner, Design Original, from the initial concept to implementation on-site, so it's an honour to share this 'best stand award' with them."

Ken Murray, Events Manager, Ericsson Media Solutions.

"It's a huge achievement to be saluted by the broadcast industry for our creativity and project implementation,” said Will Dixon, Managing Director, Design Original.

“It's been a wonderful project to work on and it goes to show that a close, trusting agency-client relationship gets the best results. Ken and the team at Ericsson have been a dream to work with on NAB 2018 and it’s a huge thrill to share this prestigious award with them,\" concluded Dixon.
