The award was presented to SMPTE, Netflix, Home Box Office (HBO), Telestream, and the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) during the 67th Annual Technology & Engineering Emmy Awards ceremony, which was held Jan. 8 in Las Vegas in conjunction with the international Consumer Electronics Show (CES). SMPTE Member Chuck Pagano, a pioneer with ESPN and the 2013 winner of SMPTE's prestigious David Sarnoff Medal, was recognized with a NATAS Lifetime Achievement Award.

Lyon Video Installs Calrec Apollo Audio Console in Newest Mobile Production Truck Posted: 28/08/2014

U.S. mobile production company Lyon Video has installed an Apollo digital audio console from Calrec Audio in its new outside broadcast (OB) truck, Lyon 14, marking the 11th Calrec console in Lyon's all-Calrec fleet. Lyon 14 is destined to cover a variety of sports and entertainment events for media companies such as ABC, ESPN, Fox Sports, and Yahoo. The first major use of the console at a national event was to cover the live red carpet preshow at the 66th Primetime Emmy(R) Awards outside the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles, where the awards show took place. Lyon Video worked on behalf of Live Media Group, which produced the coverage for Yahoo.

Artel Video Systems Receives Technology and Engineering Emmy(R) Award Posted: 07/08/2014

Artel Video Systems today announced that it has been honored with a Technology and Engineering Emmy(R) Award by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) for its work on the Standardization and Productization of JPEG 2000 (J2K) Interoperability. 

 
The Emmy(R) Award recognizes Artel for its contribution in the development of VSF TR-01, a recommended practice for compressing SDI signals into JPEG 2000 and encapsulating the signals along with audio and ancillary data into an MPEG-2 TS for transport over IP networks. In addition to supporting the development of TR-01, Artel and other recipients of the award also demonstrated interoperability between their products. With the development of TR-01 and vendor interoperability, the industry now has a standard solution for light compression of HD and 3G-SDI signals for transport applications.
