Front Porch Digital, the global leader in solutions that migrate, manage, and market media content, today announced that top U.K. content management services provider itfc is implementing its DIVArchive(R) content storage management (CSM) solution as a key component in the expansion and upgrade of its digital asset workflow. At itfc, content under the direction of TMD's Mediaflex will be moved by DIVArchive between multiple systems, including a Quantum(R) Scalar(R) i6000 tape library.
"We needed a solution that was robust, cost-effective, and flexible," said Dave Harris, itfc director of engineering and technology. "In addition, it had to have proven support for our existing Mediaflex implementation. Front Porch Digital's DIVArchive provided all of that with specific features and potential enhancements which we could see ourselves using in the future. These include standalone interfacing capabilities which will add to the tools at our disposal."
Based in London, itfc has provided post-production services to the film and TV industry for over 30 years. itfc's clients include ITV, Five, Virgin Media TV, Warner Bros., and Buena Vista. "We need to be all things to all people in our market," said Harris. "Our clients want our work to appear as part of their own environment. The flexibility of Front Porch Digital and Mediaflex will be an important component." The facility's upgrade results from increased business opportunities in a file-based world plus greater use of enhanced digital and HD content. Their data density requires added storage capacity as well as the ability to move big digital files quickly throughout the workflow.
Front Porch Digital's DIVArchive is a hardware and software solution that enables efficient transfer of digitized media content wherever it's needed -- from ingest to manipulation, playout, and long-term preservation.
"The implementation at itfc is a fine illustration of how DIVArchive enables media enterprises of all kinds, not just broadcasters, to make the best use of content," said Rino Petricola, senior vice president and managing partner of Front Porch Digital. "In addition, itfc is taking advantage of DIVArchive's flexibility in interfacing with various applications, and of its ability to scale easily to meet the needs of an ever-expanding archive."
