All Of It Now deploys disguise gx 2c on Halsey and rsquo;s Manic World Tour

American singer Halsey kicked off her Manic World Tour 2020 in Madrid in February supporting her just released studio album, also called Manic. The Manic World Tour spans 48 shows, and kicked off in Europe, with the next legs currently being planned for Asia and North America later this year. disguise gx 2c media servers were selected by All Of It Now to drive the show’s video and Notch IMAG real-time effects.

Numerous features of the disguise solutions came into play for the tour starting in pre-pro. “The show’s video design used a multi-layered frame, and the 3D workflow of disguise Designer allowed us to create parallel maps that placed content on the screen spatially without requiring specific renders for certain songs,” explains Danny Firpo of All of It Now, a disguise Rental Partner and Workflow Specialist based in San Francisco, who did the tour’s video programming with Cade Moore. “This gave us the creative flexibility to move content around the screen and explore different approaches for certain songs.

Creative Works London delivers immersive and spectacular visuals to Guns N Roses North American Tour using disguise and Unreal Posted: 05/03/2020
Creative Works London delivers immersive and spectacular visuals to Guns N and rsquo; Roses North American Tour using disguise and Unreal

When Guns N’ Roses’ successful ‘Not In This Lifetime’ tour switched to disguise for its North American leg, it opened up new creative possibilities to enhance the already visually spectacular rock show.

The tour wrapped last November with two shows at The Colosseum in Caesars Palace, Las Vegas. The three-year world tour played 158 concerts selling more than 5 million tickets and grossing $584 million. The ‘Not In This Lifetime’ tour that started in 2016 marked the first time that Axl Rose, Slash and Duff McKagan played together since 1993. Screenworks-NEP Live Events was the disguise rental partner for the tour.

Jeremy Leeor, Managing Director and Dan Potter, Creative Director, at disguise studio Creative Works London, coordinated the creation, execution and delivery of the Ghostrain and traditional show walk-in opening sequence using the new disguise and Unreal integration, currently going through Beta testing.

"A lot of what we created for the Guns’ tour visuals was built similarly to the way triple-A game assets are made using highly creative and flexible 3D tools like Cinema 4D, ZBrush, 3Ds Max and Substance Painter to create high-quality assets that can then be moved into real-time render engines like Unreal Engine,” explains Dan. “This is how we’ve always done it, and it makes a lot of our content stand out for its depth, texture and richness."

He points out that, “the rendering process on any project, in a conventional sense, presents many render engine and creative compositing options, and is central to how we achieve the diverse range of visual styles in our work. With the introduction of real-time render engines, you’re shifting the focal points of stages when you are developing a look to different points in the project timeline. This can be quite liberating if you’re working on something that plays to the strengths of the look you want to achieve and using the right tools to do it."

disguise vx 4 Media Servers Play Key Role in Toyota Booth at The Tokyo Motor Show 2019 Posted: 23/01/2020
disguise vx 4 Media Servers Play Key Role in Toyota Booth at The Tokyo Motor Show 2019

The 46th biennial Tokyo Motor Show drew 1.3 million visitors in October unveiling many new vehicles and concept cars to eager crowds. The Toyota booth engaged guests with a giant LED canvas, interactive elements and live-gaming racing with help from disguise vx 4 media servers supplied by Hibino, a disguise Rental Partner.

“The booth’s main display was a seamless 77.4 meters long and 24,768 pixels wide LED wall” says Emu Hino, Technical Director. “The Future City CG on the main display, which served as the background for the entire booth, was immersive and exciting. The experience of being surrounded by it and interacting with various content in the booth was very special for visitors.”

Hino explains that, “the pixel width of the display was never shown before, and 6x 4K outputs for perfect pixel management and synchronisation was required. Instead of the conventional 8-bit 256 colours we also needed 10-bit 1,024 colours. So, this was a project where there was no compromise in terms of scale and image quality.”

Luc Petit highly anticipated creation of the Qing Show opens in China with disguise at the heart of Projection workflows Posted: 12/12/2019
Luc Petit and rsquo;s highly anticipated creation of the and lsquo;Qing Show and rsquo; opens in China with disguise at the heart of Projection workflows

In April 2019, world renowned artistic director and show creator, Luc Petit, has launched a brand new show in Qingdao, China named the ‘Qing Show’. This permanent show was in development for more than 4 years by international teams from Luc PETIT and Art Team Group Asia Ltd.

The grand opening of this exceptional and one of a kind show attracted more than 1500 spectators.disguise solution sits at the heart of the production with disguise 4x4pro’s powering the show’s extensive video projection mapping.

The show is staged in an innovative immersive theatre seating up to 1,500 spectators, featuring two sets of revolving bleachers and a 360º view of the action. The massive 50-metre wide water stage is backed by a beautiful 15-meter-high projection screen. More than 430 special equipments, 263 costumes, 2D 3D flying systems and thousands of props are used on set for this unique storytelling show.

Qing Show tells the epic tale of The Eight Immortal Beings whose adventures represent archetypes within traditional Chinese society, each applying their unique strength as they work together to cross the sea. Along the way they encounter armies loyal to dragons and a variety of obstacles and must work together to succeed in their quest. “This is a large venue with a cyclorama, big inflatables and some fountains as projection surfaces,” says Stan Walbert of Stello Productions who managed the video mapping for the show. “This ambitious project took four years to design and create. The venue was built for the show and projectors, so their position and coverage had to be determined precisely.” Stan and the team used disguise’s projection study tool to determine luminosity, coverage and the number of projectors to use. He adds, “disguise’s Projection Study tool was an essential part of the process ensuring accuracy in positioning of projectors, as well as providing a way for the content team to test their files with the disguise project.”

disguise solutions Powered Video-Intensive Set for Network on Broadway Posted: 06/12/2019
disguise solutions Powered Video-Intensive Set for and lsquo;Network and rsquo; on Broadway

When Tal Yarden created the projection design for ‘Network’ on Broadway he selected disguise gx 2 media servers to drive the video-intensive environment that sets the scene for the iconic story of network anchor Howard Beale. Bryan Cranston won a Tony Award for his portrayal of Beale, an ageing anchor struggling with low ratings, who unravels live on the air only to become a new populist prophet.

Based on the Oscar-winning 1976 film, ‘Network’ was directed by Ivo van Hove and opened at the Belasco Theatre in December 2018. Brian Cranston reprised the role he premiered at the National Theatre in London in 2017. The show’s limited run was extended in 2019 with the final performance in June 2019.

Video was used as a way to heighten the story of Beale and his rise to fame. New York-based disguise rental partner Sound Associates supplied the video and audio equipment for the production. The set design for the TV studio featured over 50 screens across various types of monitors plus a large LED video wall and 6 projectors powered by disguise gx 2 media servers. The capture capabilities of the servers were also used to pipe in live video footage from moving cameras on the set further enhancing the storytelling and video design.

Although the film was written in 1976, the play’s creative team made the story relevant to the time while leaving in the original period references. “We wanted to extrapolate a kind of anachronistic storytelling,” says Tal. “So, technologically, it’s not all period television sets or cameras, and some of the content - although most of it is from the 70’s - spans time.” Interestingly, in doing research for the show he found a correlation between news stories and commercial advertising past and present.

Viaccess-Orca to Host Webinar on Cutting-Edge Anti-Piracy Strategies Posted: 18/11/2019
Viaccess-Orca to Host Webinar on Cutting-Edge Anti-Piracy Strategies

Viaccess-Orca (VO), a global leader providing OTT and TV platforms, content protection, and advanced data solutions, announced today a new webinar titled, "Defining and Executing a Piracy Management Strategy Through Cutting-Edge Technologies and Services."

Ignoring piracy is not an option: the need for an efficient and personalized anti-piracy strategy is critical.

Nov. 26, 3:00 p.m. GMT --  register at http://bit.ly/37lP8Vh.

• Content piracy has evolved over the last few years with the democratization of IP-based video delivery.

• Pirates have found ways to bypass traditional content protection technologies, redistribute, and monetize pirated content.

• Broadcasters and service providers face immense pressure to increase subscribers, ensure revenues, avoid churn, protect their brand reputation, and comply with rights-holders' content-protection requirements.

• Licensing pictures or events on an exclusive basis has proven to be increasingly challenging for rights holders due to rampant piracy.

By relying on experts and specialized tools — such as dynamic watermarking, DRM, breach detection, and password-sharing identification — service providers can anticipate piracy risks, instantly identify the source of piracy, and take counteractions. The webinar will discuss why media companies should build a piracy-management strategy and how it can be supported by VO, a leader in content protection technologies.
