INSIGHT TV, one of the world’s leading UHD broadcasters and producer of native UHD HDR content covering action sports, entertainment, and lifestyle, has announced that its legendary show ‘King of the Hammers Ultra 4 Saga’ (King of the Hammers) has been named a finalist for the Cynopsis Sports Media Awards, which are being held at the New York Athletic Club in New York City on Thursday, 12th April.
King of the Hammers is an 8x60-minute reality-style documentary that goes behind the scenes of the world’s toughest off-road National Championship, Ultra4. The largest event of its kind in North America, Ultra4 sees 485 racers and 40,000 spectators gather at locations over a six-month period. The show tells the stories of four of the drivers and their families showing the huge dedication that goes into this dangerous and exciting sport.
King of the Hammers was shot in 2017, over six months at eight races across the USA in UHD HDR. It transmitted for the first time on 22nd July 2017 on INSIGHT TV channels and INSIGHT.TV and aired monthly with the final episode transmitted in February 2018. The show’s cinematography maximises the technical benefits of UHD HDR, and the storytelling highlights the daily struggles that these drivers and their families face.
“We shoot all of our content in 4K/UHD and what’s unique about King of the Hammers is that it was the first show we shot in HDR, as we knew the beautiful backdrop would translate visually and build upon the unique storytelling aspect of the show. It’s an absolute honour for King of the Hammers to be recognised as a finalist for the Cynopsis Sports Media Awards, which are a wonderful display of the many talented producers and executives in the sports media industry,” says Rian Bester, CEO of INSIGHT TV.
