BB and S Lights Quarantine short: We Can Go On Posted: 01/10/2020
BB and amp;S Lights Quarantine short: We Can and rsquo;t Go On

Amanda Dreschler and Michael Livingston didn’t let a detour like the COVID-19 pandemic shunt their creativity. Just the opposite— they channeled their isolation experience into inspiration and pulled out the stops—writing a script, learning the majority of crew positions, and sharpened their directing, acting and editing skills. Plus they got by with a little help from their friends— all remote, all COVID safe.

Whitman Illuminates Hot Wheels Spots with BB and S Lighting Innovations Posted: 07/09/2020
Whitman Illuminates Hot Wheels Spots with BB and amp;S Lighting Innovations

Tristan Whitman plays with toys. A specialist in tabletop cinematography, the LA-based filmmaker/USC professor is often called upon by top toymakers to make their action cars and figures grab the attention of young viewers. Unlike setups that require big crews, tabletop shooting is a more solitary endeavor, requiring a focused skillset including concentration, patience and resourceful use of tools. With fewer people on set, following the new safety protocols amid the Covid-19 outbreak is just a minor inconvenience.

The Taipei Jazz Orchestra Delivers Exuberant Performances With Help From DPA Microphones Posted: 31/01/2020
The Taipei Jazz Orchestra Delivers Exuberant Performances With Help From DPA Microphones

The Taipei Jazz Orchestra is ensuring the best audio quality for audiences,by using various DPA microphones, such as the company’s versatile 4099 Instrument Microphones, to amplify its sound.

“We have been working with DPA for several years now,” says Mr. A-Fu Kao, the Orchestra’s audio engineer and General Manager of record label Just Music. “We really love the sound characteristics of DPA products because they are so natural.”

The Orchestra has recently been experimenting with DPA’s recently launched 4097 CORE Supercardioid Choir Microphone, which provides the same sonic qualities as the CORE 4099 Instrument Microphone but was designed specifically to capture dynamic choir sound.

The Orchestra gave the microphone a thorough testing on Christmas Eve when it played a Swing Christmas concert at the Taipei Zhong Hall. The concert featured a choir of children singing popular Christmas songs and Mr. Kao was keen to ensure that their vocals were not drowned out by the much louder instruments.

“The 4097’s supercardioid pattern provided a very clear sound with high gain before feedback, which minimized the sound from off axis,” he explains. “This is very helpful, especially in venues where the acoustics are bad. The microphone sounded amazing and worked perfectly, allowing us to capture the natural sound of the choir.”

Imperial College London and Three Media implement near real time platform optimisation Posted: 12/11/2019
Imperial College London and Three Media implement near real time platform optimisation

Three Media, media specialist and product provider of XEN:Pipeline, today announced the completion of an 18-month project in conjunction with Imperial College London. The goal of the project was to make media supply chain processing more affordable by identifying ways to reduce costs and maximise workflow, process and resource efficiencies.

The project, called Digital Media Data Analytics (DMDA), was initiated and led by Three Media in conjunction with an Imperial College London team headed by Performance Engineering expert Dr Anthony Field. The combined team applied its expert knowledge of data analytics and optimisation techniques to Three Media's XEN:Pipeline development programme.

XEN:Pipeline enables users not only to evaluate and optimise existing workflows and business processes in near real time, but also to model new and changing virtual revenue streams either as stand-alone or alongside the existing. It also provides opportunities to identify, model, and prove new and innovative services and chargeable functions. XEN:Pipeline is a highly configurable, scalable, storage agnostic and performant system that can operate across multiple company and supplier locations and departments, identifying and resolving often-hidden bottlenecks, pinch points and under-utilisation from existing workflows and processes.
