Jungers Loudness Compliance Toolkit

Date: 16/11/2011
Jngers Loudness Compliance Toolkit

Berlin based Junger Audio has risen to the compliance challenge set by the EBUs latest loudness recommendations with a toolkit of 8, 4 and 2 channel digital audio processors. Each processor incorporates Jungers Level Magic¢ II loudness control algorithm that complies with EBU R128, ITU and ATSC A/85 broadcast audio recommendations. R128 specifies that Programme Loudness Levels should be normalised to a Target Level of -23.0 LUFS (Loudness Units referenced to Full scale).

Jungers newly released software Loudness Logger is a valuable addition to the Loudness toolkit and can be used with Jungers T*AP, D*AP and C8086+ (the Level Magic Surround Processor component of the modular C8000 system). Loudness Logger monitors, logs and analyses loudness using measurement data from Level Magic¢ II loudness control. It provides live metering and scrolling graphs of input, output and processing values and off line analysis of log files.

Shipping late November, the D*AP LM4 is a 4 channel processor that replaces Jungers legendary B46. Designed for television broadcasters and post production that need to control loudness in production, playout or distribution, the LM4 can process 4 channels of audio from 3G capable SDI, AES or analogue connections. In addition, for operational peace of mind, the LM4 includes power-fail bypass on all the I/O and is available with either single or dual power supplies.

The T*AP is an 8 channel Loudness Manager and processor that will, in Q1 2013, include Spectral Signature a Channel character tool.

The Junger Audio range is distributed in the UK by Aspen Media www.aspen-media.com.

Vitec Production Solutions at the BSC Expo
Making its official debut at the BSC Expo will be the all-new dual-battery bracket, which enables users to power a Gemini panel with two industry-standard 14.4V broadcast camera batteries mounted directly to the yoke or light stand. With its extremely lightweight and on-board, ballast-free power supply, Gemini has always been easy to transport and rig at on-location shoots. Now it's even more practical in situations where portable power is preferred over mains power, including a broad range of ENG and ENP applications. Unlike competing LED panels, which can only generate 50 percent of their maximum output when battery-powered, Gemini can operate at up to 100 percent intensity running from mains and battery power alike.
