A SOFT LIGHT FOR THE NEW GENERATION OF CAMERAS Posted: 13/05/2014

Theres a new LED soft light for digital movie making and photography.
Designed by a cameraman for camera people, its called Softy Lite.

Maxim Ford, cameraman and designer of Softy Lite said "With the explosion of low budget dramas using new digital movie cameras like the Canon D5 and Sony F3 I wanted to make an affordable light that would have the potential for great drama lighting. The new cameras, being very sensitive, require a lot less light than their predecessors. The conventional soft lights I had been using were too powerful, and they suffered from spilt light out of their sides and back. Working with new LEDs I have designed a light that produces a daylight balanced soft light with no spill, that is easy to control via a supplied snoot and egg crate, giving the output a broad, medium or narrow beam of light. The LEDs have the advantage of running cool and the low voltage operation makes them safe and easy to use.

Hayslett Takes Sachtler Ace M on Tour with MUSE Posted: 15/11/2013
For alternative rock band MUSEs 2nd Law World Tour, cinematographer Matt Hayslett needed to choose his equipment carefully in order to keep up with fast-paced life on the road. The Grammy-winning group, which has played for packed houses in its native England and throughout Europe, is currently touring North America. Some of MUSEs most recent hits include Survival, the theme song for the London Summer Games, and Madness, the theme song for TBS/TNTs March Madness, for which the group broke the record for Billboards longest #1 alternative airplay song. For its latest endeavor, MUSE selected Hayslett to film a documentary about life on tour. The band really wanted to invite fans behind the scenes for the first time, at the height of their career, Hayslett explains. Since Id shot the trailer and video material for their album release, with the blessing of Warner Bros. Records, they brought me in to do just that. For the world tour, I needed a tripod that could support a wide range of camera rigs and be able to keep up with our busy schedule. The Sachtler Ace M fluid head and tripod fit the bill, he says. Sachtler is part of Vitec Videocom, a Vitec Group company. In addition to capturing the behind-the-scenes footage, Hayslett shot the live visuals that the audience watches at the show. There is nothing like seeing your videos on the big screen with an amazing performance and incredible lighting, he comments.

Bertie Gregory and Sachtler Ace M on Vancouver Island Posted: 16/10/2013
For more than two years, Bertie Gregory, the nineteen-year-old wildlife videographer from England, shot the fauna on Vancouver Island, Canada. This island, the largest in the Pacific in North America, is not only home to black bears, one of Gregory's main focuses. Wolves, pumas, and whales can also be found there. The young filmmaker recently finished his almost 16-minute documentary, West Coast Adventure, in which he also narrates and presents about black bears on the island. Since he did not want the bears to feel threatened or scared in their habitat, he shot from a boat with his Nikon D7000. For a firm stand, the wildlife filmmaker depended upon the lightweight and robust Ace M tripod system by Sachtler, part of Vitec Videocom, a Vitec Group company.

Timeless on the Mediterranean with the Sachtler Video 15 Posted: 12/09/2013
When time begins to pass more slowly and the viewer is immersed in the sounds of the sea and the visually overwhelming images of the endless ocean, filmmaker Hans Leysieffer translates his motto into action: The world slows down, and it is time to watch. Slow motion and time lapse are his preferred stylistic devices to capture the fascination of the Mediterranean. In the nature documentary Mediterranean Magical Moments, it's not just about the beauty of the image for Leysieffer: To meet his expectations of visualizing the eternity of the ocean, he relies on the extremely robust and durable Video 15 fluid head by Sachtler, part of Vitec Videocom, a Vitec Group company.

Waters, a key player in sound for high-profile productions from reality programs like TNTs Life Flight and A&Es Duck Dynasty to film/documentary productions like The Vegas Story and more. Sachtler Ace M Perfect Fit for Fishers Arbys Spots Posted: 30/07/2013
For the first in a series of quirky national spots for the Cartoon Network/Adult Swim, cinematographer Gavin Fisher decided to use the Blackmagic Design Cinema Camera, Canon lenses, and his trusty Ace M by Sachtler, part of Vitec Videocom, a Vitec Group company, for support. For this first spot, for Arbys, we shot in a small artist loft location, and on a very tight schedule, explains Fisher. I needed a lightweight package that I could move quickly. Sachtlers FSB 8 T Goes Off-the-Grid for Mountain Men Shoot Posted: 16/07/2013

The crew at Warm Springs Productions might be laid back and friendly, but when it comes to producing their outdoor reality television and hunting shows, its all professional. We use only the best equipment, and only the best tripods to keep the cameras stable, says equipment manager Mike Schweizer. Thats why we use Sachtler tripods and heads on all our shoots. Theyve been to the deepest swamps and the snowiest peaks. We trust our tripods to keep a steady shot in -50 degrees, in waist-high water and in torrential downpours. Sachtler is part of Vitec Videocom and a Vitec Group company.
