Brighton Local TV adopts Panasonic Posted: 22/08/2014

Brighton TV has announced that it will adopt Panasonic technology for its studio and location production needs when it goes on air at the end of August 2014.

The new broadcaster has invested in a range of P2 camera equipment after an extended testing period. The Sussex-based channel will use HPX250 and PX270 camcorders for news gathering and location reporting, while adapted HPX255 units will provide camera facilities for the seafront TV studio.

The launches of London Live, Mustard TV in Norwich and Estuary TV in North Lincolnshire has raised much speculation about the potential of Local TV, and with 47 more channels  to come this debate looks set to continue throughout 2014. New research reveals that three quarters of British TV viewers (75%) dont know that a local channel could be launching near them this year, with a further 15% claiming to have heard of local TV but dont know where these channels are due to launch.

London Live, the new TV channel dedicated to the capital, is set to launch on Monday, but new research reveals that Londoners are actually the least likely to watch a local TV channel in the UK, with only 44 per cent likely to do so. The findings additionally revealed that those that live in the North East are the most likely to watch a local TV service, though the launch date for Made in Tyne and Wear, the channel catering for this region, has not been confirmed yet.
