Camera Corps Qx High Quality Robotic Camera Debuts at 2018 NAB Show
Camera Corps will debut a major addition to its range of miniature robotic camera systems at the April 9-12 NAB Show in Las Vegas. The new Qx is a compact weatherproof head with integral pan/tilt/zoom/focus drives. Delivering high video quality, it offers producers the freedom to cut and mix with video feeds from full-size studio and outside-broadcast cameras. Black-finished and just 125 mm in diameter, the Qx is unobtrusive enough to be operated within view of other cameras both for studio productions and in OB coverage of live events. It can also be used as part of a commentator camera setup.

A UHD version operating at four times real-time is also available. The camera will be demonstrated on the Vitec Group exhibit (C6025) in the Central Hall at the April 9-12 NAB Show in Las Vegas.

Crafty Apes Delivers Incredible Subtle VFX for Hidden Figures  with Help from Autodesk 3ds Max and Maya

Hidden Figures recounts the story of three female African-American mathematicians who played an integral role John Glenns launch into space and return. Captured on 35mm film, the movie is largely live action, but features nuanced CG throughout. Crafty Apes delivered 328 VFX shots for the film, working out of its Atlanta facility, with Founder Chris LeDoux at the helm, Mark LeDoux overseeing local artists and Tim LeDoux guiding the final look out of the studios LA facility. Together, a 20-person team created CG elements reminiscent of 1960s Russian and NASA space programs; period era technology; and capsules, rockets, launch pads and the like, in addition to a host of VFX and environment work for CG shots, from bolts to Earth.

Blackmagic Design has announced that URSA Mini 4.6K EF was used to shoot the music video for Lights Down Low by MAX. Blackmagic Design Video Assist 4K was used for 4K monitoring and recording on the intensely packed two day shoot, while DaVinci Resolve Studio was used for color grading the video.

Technicolor LA recently gave Clint Eastwoods biographical drama Sully the full Baselight HDR colour grade treatment to achieve its pristine look for IMAX. Produced by Malpaso Productions, the film tells the true story of pilot Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger, portrayed by Tom Hanks, and applauds him as a hero after he safely landed US Airways Flight 1549 in the Hudson River in New York back in 2009, saving 155 lives.
