Show preview: Qwilt at Mobile World Congress 2015 Posted: 16/02/2015

Online video now accounts for 70 percent of all internet traffic and this number is expected to grow exponentially as the sale of smart, mobile devices continue to radically outstrip demand for traditional set-top-boxes (STBs). In doing so, existing IP networks, already straining under the pressure of serving this volume of streamed content, will be pushed to their limits. In an attempt to cope with this unprecedented growth in demand for both on-demand and live video, mobile operators have traditionally thrown money at the problem; expanding their network capacity to deal with the explosion of video traffic flowing over their networks. However, with growth in mobile traffic skyrocketing, and with consumers demanding HD and live content with no buffering or delay, this approach is as unsustainable as it is costly.
