NEP Visions Adds 34 New Grass Valley HD Cameras

Date: 18/12/2009
NEP and its NEP Visions high-definition broadcast facilities company in the UK, are expanding their equipment itinerary with the latest HD cameras from Grass Valley™. The new Grass Valley LDK 8000 Elite WorldCam multi-format HD cameras can quickly switch between 1080i, 1080p, and 720p formats at 50-, 59.94, and 60 Hz for a wide variety of production applications.

The LDK 8000 Elite cameras will hit the road in early 2010, covering a wide variety of events including English Premier League and European Champions League football games for Sky Sports. The 34 new LDK 8000 Elite WorldCam multi-format HD camera heads with triax transmission systems will be incorporated into the already impressive arsenal of Grass Valley LDK 6000 HD WorldCam cameras which NEP Visions has been using for several years. Later in the summer of 2010 the cameras will move to a new unit being constructed by NEP Visions.

"We've had a great experience when using the Grass Valley LDK 6000 WorldCam cameras, and since we do a lot of our work in the UK over triax, we wanted to stay in the same camera family and leverage the investments we have already made to our advantage," said George Hoover, Chief Technology Officer at NEP. "Many of our clients in the UK and overseas prefer the look of a Grass Valley image, so we're happy to provide them with their camera of choice. And we can produce a variety of different projects with the same camera."

"Many production companies continue to rely on triax connectivity within various outdoor and indoor venues, especially in the UK and throughout Europe, which has made our cameras very attractive because they can work with either fiber or triax cables," said Jeff Rosica, Senior Vice President of Grass Valley. "The new LDK 8000 Elite cameras will work perfectly with Visions' existing triax basestations, so their initial investment is protected, while at the same time the new cameras provide them with increased functionality."

NEP Visions will use triax cables but the dockable design of the LDK 8000 Elite makes it the only HD camera system available that offers a simple selection of fiber and triax, without the need of changing the optical front-end and any loss of image quality or camera functionality.

The LDK 8000 Elite camera uses Grass Valley's unique and awarded HD-DPM™+ imaging technology, which features three 9.2 million pixel imagers. By manipulating the imagers at a sub-pixel level, the camera can produce native full resolution images for any HD acquisition format, with a consistent pin-sharp resolution while offering a very high sensitivity.
