Open Broadcast Systems Open Sources PTP and ST-2110 analysis tool

Open Broadcast Systems has announced that it has Open Sourced its internal PTP and ST-2110 analysis tool. By doing this, the company aims to simplify measurements and fault-finding in facilities. In particular, it allows for multi-day measurements without the need to make large and unwieldy packet captures.

By supporting multiple network card vendors, the tool also allows for cross-checking results independently. As the tool was developed during the work-from-home portion of the pandemic, it has minimal system requirements and can run on very modest hardware.

Kieran Kunhya, CEO of Open Broadcast Systems, said: "This simple, but powerful tool has been instrumental in developing support for ST-2110 and ST-2022-6 in our C-200 encoders and decoders as well as troubleshooting several faults in real-world facilities. We hope that open sourcing this tool will push the industry toward greater PTP and timestamp compliance outside of a lab environment.."

It supports the following functions:

ST 2110-20 (video) packet arrival time and RTP-PTP offset measurements.

ST 2110-30 (audio) RTP-PTP offset measurements.

ST 2022-6 (SDI over IP) first packet arrival time relative to PTP alignment point measurements.

New Streaming High Speed Cameras Posted: 26/09/2022
Phoenix

During the pandemic, most of us had two choices. Identifying parts of our business that we can accelerate, or nothing! At IDT, we chose the former, so we have just launched a new product range, and have three (yes, three) more coming shortly.
High speed cameras have traditionally been at the specialist end of the camera spectrum, with short sequences being recorded to RAM, and an interruption in workflow required before the next captured sequence. Minor improvements to this basic workflow have been implemented, like segmenting the RAM (which shorten each sequence, and still require a download later on), or having on board SSD, for faster downloads.
