Open Broadcast Systems To Present 100 millisecond latency over a Private 5G Network at IBC and nbsp;

Open Broadcast Systems to demonstrate 100 millisecond latency video over a 5G private network and introduce time-based pricing at IBC. The 5G demo will be presented both on the Open Broadcast Systems booth (1.A39c) and will be supporting the work of the 5G Remote Production…in the middle of nowhere within the IBC Accelerator Programme.

Encoders and decoders from Open Broadcast Systems are supporting high-quality broadcast contribution. Its products have built-in 5G support, making it possible for customers to contribute live video over 5G. This has already been proven in a technically demanding environment, transmitting low latency video over public 5G networks in the VW Funcup race at Le Mans earlier in the year.

The C-100 encoder and decoder supports high-quality, low-latency sport, news and channel contribution. It allows flexible deployment of contribution services in pure software or on a wide variety of high-density or portable chassis. The C-200 encoder and decoder delivers ultra-high value in pristine quality and with very low end-to-end latency.

Open Broadcast Systems has introduced time-based pricing for its C-200 encoder and decoder products, giving users the flexibility to pay for usage on a time-used basis. This allows for encoders and decoders to be paid for as OPEX and billed only when used, such as for major sporting events, in a similar fashion to cloud resources.

Kieran Kunhya, Founder and CEO, Open Broadcast Systems, added: “The flexibility of our encoders and decoders now extends to providing flexible OPEX pricing. This helps service providers amortise encoders and decoders much more easily.Our encoders and decoders have some of the lowest latencies of comparable products and 5G lets us make the most of this low latency. It is great to work with Zixi and Accelerator partners in order to show how private 5G networks can enhance production and I look forward to the live results during the event.”

Open Broadcast Systems products can also be seen on the following booths:

Cyanview (10.D31b) - Cyanview will be showing remote camera shading workflows using OBE C-200 encoders on its booth. Low Latency encoding and decoding with the highest quality is vitally important for shading in remote production. The Cyanview RCP allows for shading a wide range of cameras from a powerful control panel.

TAG Video Systems (1.C30) - TAG will be showing a demonstration of multi camera production using onboard racing footage encoded by small form-factor OBE C-100 encoders at Le Mans. The TAG multiviewer is an industry-leading, software-based multiviewer for both production and monitoring.

Open Broadcast Systems will be demonstrating its range of products on its booth (1.A39c) at IBC from 9thto 12thSeptember. The IBC Accelerator demo can be seen on stand 2.A14.Find out more and book a meeting.
