Viaccess-Orca, a global leader providing OTT and TV platforms, content protection, and advanced data solutions, announced today that Orange Moldova has launched a new convergent TV offering (TV + Internet + mobile) using Viaccess-Orca's Adaptive Sentinel Conditional Access System (CAS) along with set-top boxes (STBs) from Hi-Global Technology and CI+ modules from Neotion. Following the recent acquisition of Moldova's leading cable operator, Sun Communications, Orange needed a cost-effective and streamlined way to expand its service portfolio to include fixed internet and pay-TV subscriptions. GlobeCast and SES (NYSE Euronext Paris and Luxembourg Stock Exchange: SESG) announced today that they are providing services to Orange Romania for the launch of a high-quality direct-to-home satellite TV package this month. The package will use multiple transponders on ASTRA's 31.5 degrees East orbital position and will be broadcast in the DVB-S2 and MPEG4 technical standards. GlobeCast will provide contribution, encryption, and encoding for SD and HD channels in the package.

GlobeCast and FRANCE 24 announced today that they will expand their exploratory Hybrid Broadband Broadcast Television (HbbTV) service to the Middle East in fall 2012 with the support of Orange and Arabsat. The service, to be offered to satellite viewers of FRANCE 24 in the Middle East, follows a European deployment begun earlier this year with SES. The project will add a layer of interactivity to satellite TV programming by harnessing the capability of connected TVs, allowing satellite TV viewers in the region to use their connected televisions to interact with FRANCE 24's linear and non-linear content. |
