The Software Initiative Deutschland (SID; www.softwareinitiative.de) awarded the duplicating and printing equipment manufacturer Primera Technology with the
Software Award 2010 for their software suite PTPublisher and won against more than 60 other manufacturers. Criterions for the award were the functionality and usefulness of the software for Primeras Disc Publishers.
Using the Disc Publishers by Primera Technology is as easy as printing to any office printer. Primeras exclusive PTPublisher Software, written by the companys own software engineers, has won critical acclaim for its simple, wizard-style interface. Training new operators takes just minutes instead of hours.
Users simply have to choose the type of job they want to perform (data, video, audio, etc.), match that with a print file of their choice, select the amount of disc they want to produce and then press the GO button.
Its that easy!
PTPublisher supports Windows XP/Vista/7 and PTPublisher for Mac is compatible with Mac OS X v10.5 or higher. The Built-in disc design software called SureThing Primera Edition (Windows) or DiscCover (Mac) enables users to place photos, backgrounds, text and graphics anywhere on the disc, including as far into the middle of the disc as you wish a major limitation with other brands of disc publishers.
In addition to the included PTPublisher software for disc burning and printing, Primera integrated also following software features:
PTRip: robotically RIPs personal music CDs and loads them into Apple iTunes for iPhone, iPod and iPod Touch or Microsoft Media Player
PTBackUp: automatic, scheduled back-ups of files to CDs, DVDs or optional 25GB and 50GB Blu-ray Discs
PTProtect: With a single mouse click, users can prevent unauthorized duplication of their valuable DVD video files. Three free protections are included; additional protections are available at a reasonable per-disc price.
Important for the award was also Primeras attempt to safe resources and the environment. The software continuously monitors the status of each individually replaceable ink, so they only need to be replaced when they are completely empty.
Further to that software updates are free of charge during the life span of a purchased disc publisher and can be downloaded from the company's website at http://primera.eu.
The award was presented to Mark D. Strobel, Primeras vice president of sales and marketing, and to Andreas Hoffmann, Primera Europes managing director operations, at CeBIT (Hannover, Germany) on March 2nd, 2011.
