Prokit becomes exclusive distributor for Wise S2 Expresscards Posted: 27/05/2011
Prokit has become the exclusive UK distributor for Wise, the Taiwanese manufacturer of S2 Expresscards. The 32 GB S2 Card uses ExpressCard technology, and is designed for use in Sony XDCAM EX camcorders as well as other SxS Card devices. Uniquely the S2 Card also features a built-in, high-speed USB2.0 tap, for direct download to PC or Mac without the need for a card reader.

The card is compliant with Expresscard specification. The 32GB S2 Card records approximately 106 minutes in HQ mode and 148 minutes in SP mode. It is compatible with Windows XP or later, Mac OS10.4 or later, LINUX Kernel 2.4 or later.

Since 1992, Wise have been marketing peripheral-based storage interfaces such as PCIMA, CardBus, USB2.0, Firewire etc. An important milestone for them was the introduction of a patented portable DV/HDV/HD image storage drive device in 2002. Since early 2010, CF cards have been produced, as well as the S2 ExpressCard for use with Sony PMW products.

After a successful accreditation process, Canon have appointed Prokit as a Pro Video Dealer, specialising in broadcast approved HD camcorders as well as video-enabled DSLR cameras. Prokit have a live demonstration facility, with Canon trained staff, in its Chiswick, London showroom. Specifically it features the XF305 and XF105 camcorders, together with the 5D Mk 2, and 7D SLRs. Prokit also stocks and advises on a wide range of support products for these cameras.

Shape are a small, innovate company dedicated to making life with a small camera or camcorder, more comfortable. Based near Montreal, the team have spent 15 years in the production community. Their products are built by cameramen, for cameramen, and include an evolving range of shoulder mounts, handles and supports.

PROKIT hosts LED Lighting Day Posted: 27/10/2009
PROKIT has hosted an Open Day for broadcast, film and video LED Lighting, the first of its kind in the UK. It took place in Prokits Chiswick showroom on Thursday 15th. October 2009. Manufacturers taking part included ARRI, Bebob, Dedo, Element Labs, Litepanels, Lowel and PAG. Visitors were able to see a range of state of the art products from each manufacturer, and make side by side comparisons. Members of the STLD, BSC and GTC attended, as well as two dozen practitioners from the broadcast and video worlds.

Mark Holmes, Business Development Director, said, LED lighting has now come of age in our industry. We wanted to reflect this by having a number of popular as well as emerging concepts available for hands-on evaluation. The day fulfilled those objectives and seemed to delight those who came
