The call of the mountains ski films with the Cine 7+7 HD and FSB 8 from Sachtler Posted: 07/11/2013
Its a tradition: for over 64 years, the ski season has begun in the theaters every year with a new action documentary by Warren Miller Entertainment. The promotional films tour the world, whetting the appetites of ski and snowboarding fans alike and encouraging them to partake in winter sports. For some years now, cinematographer and director Tom Day has been responsible for the creative realization of the films. While Day does not know where the assignment will take him prior to filming, he already has his equipment ready to go beforehand; during filming in the snow worldwide, he always relies on the Sachtler Cine 7+7 HD and FSB 8 fluid heads. Sachtler is part of Vitec Videocom, a Vitec Group company.

Bertie Gregory and Sachtler Ace M on Vancouver Island Posted: 16/10/2013
For more than two years, Bertie Gregory, the nineteen-year-old wildlife videographer from England, shot the fauna on Vancouver Island, Canada. This island, the largest in the Pacific in North America, is not only home to black bears, one of Gregory's main focuses. Wolves, pumas, and whales can also be found there. The young filmmaker recently finished his almost 16-minute documentary, West Coast Adventure, in which he also narrates and presents about black bears on the island. Since he did not want the bears to feel threatened or scared in their habitat, he shot from a boat with his Nikon D7000. For a firm stand, the wildlife filmmaker depended upon the lightweight and robust Ace M tripod system by Sachtler, part of Vitec Videocom, a Vitec Group company.

Timeless on the Mediterranean with the Sachtler Video 15 Posted: 12/09/2013
When time begins to pass more slowly and the viewer is immersed in the sounds of the sea and the visually overwhelming images of the endless ocean, filmmaker Hans Leysieffer translates his motto into action: The world slows down, and it is time to watch. Slow motion and time lapse are his preferred stylistic devices to capture the fascination of the Mediterranean. In the nature documentary Mediterranean Magical Moments, it's not just about the beauty of the image for Leysieffer: To meet his expectations of visualizing the eternity of the ocean, he relies on the extremely robust and durable Video 15 fluid head by Sachtler, part of Vitec Videocom, a Vitec Group company.

Heads are rolling: OConnor for Evil Dead Remake Posted: 27/08/2013
The Evil Dead is a 1981 classic cult horror movie directed by Sam Raimi and is famous for its bloody content. For the 2013 remake, Evil Dead, Raimi chose Fede Alvarez as director and decided to take the producing role himself alongside Robert Tapert and Bruce Campbell, lead actor and producer of the original film. To fill in the position of the DoP he chose cinematographer Aaron Morton, NZCS, who was also DP for the Starz series Spartacus and part of the camera crew of Underworld 3. The challenge: Shoot a horror movie that wont be polished or enhanced by CGI retroactively and make it as bloody as possible. This task required a fluid head that is reliable and robust enough to cope with sticky artificial blood and allows for total control of camera movements. To meet these conditions Aaron Morton selected a 2575D fluid head by OConnor, part of Vitec Videocom, a Vitec Group company to support his two Sony PMW-F65 cameras.

The Sachtler FSB 6 between Penguins, Snow and Eternal Ice Posted: 19/06/2013
The mainland is a white desert of snow, surrounded by a clashing cold ocean, and scarcely populated. Only the animals and few plants are accustomed to the difficult living conditions. This is the Antarctic. DP Alessandro Beltrame from Italy left his warm southern European homeland for two documentaries for The Antarctica Project, a cooperative project of the Italian government and the private broadcaster Mediaset. With scientists of the national research centers CNR, ENEA, and PNRA as well as the FSB 6/2 D tripod system by Sachtler, part of Vitec Videocom, a Vitec Group company, he spent a month at the South Pole with merciless temperatures dropping to -50° C (58 F), a real test for the crew and the equipment.
