SMPTE 2020: Game On Augments Main Program With a Rich Blend of Sessions Organized by Program Partners

SMPTE® today announced that SMPTE 2020: "Game On," the Society's interactive and immersive remote technical conference experience scheduled for Nov. 10-12, will include programming designed and presented by its partners: HPA Women in Post, the Information Display and Entertainment Association (IDEA), 8K Association, Reliable Internet Stream Transport (RIST) Forum, Alliance for IP Media Solutions (AIMS), and Audio Engineering Society (AES), along with a series focusing on the Agile methodology for project management.

"SMPTE 2020 offers a remarkable breadth and depth of content, particularly with partner organizations contributing their time and talent to engage, educate, and even entertain," said Chris Witmayer, program committee co-chair for SMPTE 2020. "The partner programming incorporated into this year's conference offers a closer look at the people, technologies, and techniques driving our industry forward. We're grateful to our program partners for helping to make this year's technical conference such a compelling event."

HPA Women in Post
Women in Technology Series: Felicia Yue
This moderated discussion will feature Felicia Yue, principal product manager at Amazon. Yue learned to code and play the piano from her mom (a classically trained concert pianist and illegal immigrant turned IBM software developer), earned a degree in economics (and later her MBA), and launched a career in corporate finance before becoming the only woman on the crew of "Monday Night Football." There, she helped develop and launch products for fans of the Olympics, Major League Baseball, the NBA, and the Champions League, as well as virtual enhancements such as the Emmy Award-winning 1st & Ten line for NFL fans. Now, as a principal product manager for Amazon, Felicia is focused on introducing innovative features that will make watching sports a best-in-class experience on Prime Video.

AJA FS-HDR Helps Drive HDR Production for Studio Berlin Posted: 15/06/2021
AJA FS-HDR Helps Drive HDR Production for Studio Berlin

From UltraHD to IP, AI and HDR, technological innovations are fundamentally reimagining production and enabling more compelling audience experiences. However, each advancement brings new challenges, as early HDR adopter Studio Berlin has discovered. The technology company has long explored HDR to elevate production quality on a range of projects, including live sporting events like Bundesliga matches, and entertainment programs such as “Joko and Klaas against Pro7” and “Late Night” with Klaas Heufer-Umlauf. Depending upon the project, the Studio Berlin team can either be found out in the field with one of its five outside broadcast (OB) vans or a custom fly pack, or hunkered down in one of its studios in Berlin, Cologne or Munich. Regardless of the production locale, the AJA FS-HDR real-time HDR/WCG converter is employed to serve a range of conversion needs.
