Sachtler supports environmental documentary On the search for clues in Bolivia with the FSB 8

Date: 24/08/2011
Sachtler supports environmental documentary On the search for clues in Bolivia with the FSB 8 At the Dutch production company deepeei film productions environmental issues remain in the foreground. Considering this, it is not surprising that deepeei has once again produced a distinctive kind of environmental documentary. Environmental activist and up-and-coming young Dutch director Chihiro Geuzebroek's film project "Radical Friends a mov(i)ement of friendship" addresses the complex issue of environmental destruction and its global effects, in an unconventional manner. The film is an interesting mix between a road movie and a very personal documentary. Chihiro Geuzebroek filmed her experiences using a Panasonic HPX 171e and the FSB 8 SL MCF tripod system from Sachtler, a Vitec Group brand.

On the search for clues
At the center of the film directed by the young Dutchwoman, who has Bolivian roots, is the question of how she could actually contribute to climate justice and international understanding. So, Chihiro made her way to the homeland of her ancestors to find out more about the folk belief surrounding Pachamama (Mother Earth) to understand how this influences Bolivia's fight for climate justice and better interpersonal cohabitation. She documented her very personal experiences using a Panasonic HPX 171e and the Sachtler FSB 8 SL MCF tripod system.

For cooperation
Chihiro describes herself as an idealist: "I had to accept that simply knowing better does not really help. Action is necessary and must be taken together with others," explains the filmmaker. With her inspirational journey into another world, her goal is to document how environmental conservation and international understanding can only take place when they happen on a personal level. On her journey, Chihiro not only met and filmed environmental activists and students. but also farmers and even the Bolivian President Evo Morales.

With professional support¦
Experienced Bolivian camera operator Freddy Delgado accompanied the young director and shared his wealth of experience with her. "We filmed in different cities such as La Paz, Cochabamba, Potos, Sucre and Charazani, mostly outside on the streets. Whether in rain or direct sun, Sachtler equipment was extremely dependable. The impressive footage of the Bolivian capital city, La Paz, from a very high vantage point in El Alto, was shot perfectly with the FSB 8. The Sachtler tripod system was also used at a press conference with President Evo Morales and then proved itself during filming under difficult conditions in the mines of Potos," says Chihiro Geuzebroek.

¦and perfect equipment
In La Paz, the small team mainly walked or used public transportation and therefore really appreciated the light weight of the tripod system. "Lightweight but extremely stable these were perfect conditions for this project. Sachtler equipment provided us with the most mobility possible, and fast and simple set up and dismantling. It is user-friendly in every aspect," says Freddy Delgado when summing up his experience with Sachtler equipment.

Chihiro Geuzebroek concludes: "Thanks to the professional equipment, it was possible to document the diverse impressions and encounters for such a unique film and achieve exactly what I imagined. After my return to the Netherlands, I want the film to inspire and make a call for change. I am looking forward to 2012 when the documentary is going on a worldwide festival tour."

V-Nova Collaborates with Amazon Web Services for On-Demand Low-cost High-quality Contribution over Commercial Internet Posted: 21/04/2020
V-Nova Collaborates with Amazon Web Services for On-Demand Low-cost High-quality Contribution over Commercial Internet

Video compression experts V-Nova have collaborated with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to offer a contribution solution based on SMPTE VC-6 that provides an important new option for broadcasters and producers worldwide, helping to drive up quality whilst avoiding the need for costly leased connections.

The volume of premium live sport and event contribution has been growing steadily in recent years and has been primarily reliant upon dedicated dark fibre backbones. However, the bandwidth requirements of low-latency contribution encoders have meant the cost of these dedicated connections has been prohibitive for many. Lower-quality, higher-latency encoders often have to be used to mitigate against this.

The combination of V-Nova’s P.Link contribution solution based on SMPTE VC-6 compression with AWS Elemental MediaConnect and AWS Direct Connect addresses these challenges directly. P.Link offers Intra-frame low latencies and equivalent quality at up to 70% lower bitrates than JPEG 2000 solutions. Transporting these feeds with AWS enables mission-critical one-to-one or one-to-many links that are easy to set up and are available in a cost-effective on-demand basis. SMPTE VC-6 encoding also notably reduces processing power requirements providing higher-density and lower operating costs. Extensive testing conducted so far has demonstrated excellent low-latency performance for feeds including 4Kp60 transport at less than 200ms between London and Sydney.

White Rope Music Picks The Perfect Studio Monitors From PMC Posted: 20/04/2020
White Rope Music Picks The Perfect Studio Monitors From PMC

Clarity and extra power, especially at lower frequencies, are the main reasons why White Rope Music chose to install a pair of PMC result6 compact nearfield monitors and a sub2 in its studio in West London.

White Rope Music is a music production company owned by songwriter Sacha Skarbek, a Grammy nominee and two times Ivor Novello Award winner who has written material for artists such as James Blunt and Miley Cyrus.

Max von Ameln, Sacha’s assistant and chief engineer, says: “We were looking to upgrade our existing monitoring and wanted a speaker system with a subwoofer because we sometimes had issues controlling the low end in our room. The PMCs are a big help to our working life because they give the room dynamics the extra clarity we need. We use the speakers every day and it’s good to know we are able to hear and control the sound exactly how we want to.”

Bannister Lakes Chameleon Powers Real-Time Data for Global News OTT Channels

Bannister Lake announced today that its Chameleon real-time data management product is being used to support the Global Television Network's new OTT initiatives. Chameleon is used to control and customize a variety of news, weather, and financial data feeds as well as to manage advertising and promotional content. Global News has launched one national and four regional OTT streams providing viewers with live, 24/7 news and information.

Bannister Lake provided Global Television with a suite of software products, including its Chameleon Web Player, that renders national and localized ticker content for each channel. Harmonic Providing Free Access to Video Streaming Innovation During Global Lockdown

The current global health crisis has given rise to rapid growth in network traffic, resulting in strain across global broadband networks. In order to address the recent surge and to support its many customers during these unprecedented times, Harmonic (NASDAQ: HLIT) today announced it will provide its EyeQ™ content-aware encoding (CAE) technology free for the next 90 days to help alleviate the current network constraints.

Harmonic's EyeQ technology leverages artificial intelligence to reduce streaming congestion on broadband networks by up to 50% without impacting quality. EyeQ CAE is available on all Harmonic media processors, through a software license, and the VOS®360 Live Streaming Platform.

"Due to the nearly global lockdown, the demand for high-quality streaming services has exploded and as such has led to excessive constraints on broadband networks. "By offering free licenses for the expected lockdown timeframes, Harmonic is providing an effective tool to help both media companies and broadband networks alike."

AVer Europe upgrades new PTZ cameras with NDI Pro AV technology to simplify livestreaming process Posted: 15/04/2020
AVer Europe upgrades new PTZ cameras with NDI Pro AV technology to simplify livestreaming process

AVer Europe has today announced the integration of its pan-tilt-zoom cameras with world leading video standard NDI® capability to deliver enhanced Pro AV opportunities to the UK market.

The new PTZ310N and PTZ330N models feature NewTek’s NDI® video standard integration that enables the cameras to communicate, deliver and receive high quality content with low latency, which is also frame-accurate and suitable for switching in a live production environment.

The NDI® standard enables seamless interaction between various control systems and AVer Europe’s camera hardware for capturing and livestreaming. Users can create robust IP workflows throughout all components of their production setup via one cable rather than having to wire every video or audio source directly into an SDI router, saving significant time and money through increased efficiency.

This new functionality combined with the powerful zoom, smooth movement and high-quality imaging offered by AVer Europe’s PTZ cameras, enables higher education institutions to capture classroom lectures and broadcast events such as Ted Talks or graduation ceremonies. The cameras also facilitate coverage of major awards, press conferences and tradeshows in business.

“This upgrade for the PTZ310N and PTZ330N enables users to access a new range of event capturing and livestreaming capabilities within both education and business,” explains Rene Buhay, AVer Europe Vice President of Sales & Marketing. “By integrating NDI HX2 with our existing advanced features in our PTZ range, we are improving Pro AV processes for content producers globally.”
