Scene Double, sole UK distributor of IHSE DVI switching and extension solutions, announces the introduction of a new 48-port Draco Tera KVM and DVI Matrix Switch. The highly successful Draco Tera system has opened a new chapter in the world of enterprise-scale digital video and matrix switching of up to 288 ports in a single system. Based on well-established multiple Gigabit technology, Draco Tera enables a cost-effective, modular switching and extension solution supporting DVI video, together with USB, serial, and analogue or digital audio options. All common DVI Single-Link resolutions are currently supported up to 2048 x 1152 pixels, including High-Definition 1080p. Support for even higher resolutions will be added as a future interface option. To enhance its application in broadcast and video editing environments the Tera also supports seamless switching of full-rate SDI video.
This new 48-port switch provides the same level of high-quality, instantaneous switching as the 166 and 288-port versions in a smaller chassis. The convenient form factor makes it ideal for small to medium sized enterprises, or larger ones requiring a smaller switching system as part of a larger network infrastructure, says Ray Gordon, Founder and Managing Director of Scene Double. It allows businesses to take advantage of the features of the full Draco Tera switch in a unit that is suited to their requirements whilst still retaining the excellent value for money and quality of the larger sizes.
The Draco Tera solution has been designed for the utmost level of performance and flexibility and to provide scalability for application and future growth. Its non-blocking, high-speed video switch delivers instant millisecond switching between sources and displays, making it ideal for mission-critical control room applications. It can handle the most complex KVM and video routing installations including demanding broadcast and post-production environments, allowing multiple studios and edit suites to access common equipment thereby delivering greater productivity and efficiency.
The Draco Tera chassis interfaces with remote displays over a mixture of fibre or CatX cables through an extensive range of Draco Extender units designed to meet every operational requirement demanded in todays high-speed, high-resolution world. Draco Extenders have been specifically designed to operate within the Draco Tera solution enabling long extension distances over both copper and fibre connections providing ultra-reliable data transmission with no discernable loss in video quality. Draco extenders support DVI-D (single-link) video and USB HID (Human Interface Devices) as standard. Additional interface options include: multi-head video, USB 2.0 (transparent), analogue or digital audio and VGA input (DVI-I).
Installation, setup and control of the Draco Tera is simplified by network and serial interfaces to third-party control systems, an intuitive OSD, and the unique FlexPort technology that allows dynamic configuration of ports as either inputs or outputs and automatically identifies, stores and manages configurations internally. Dual redundancy, SNMP management and hot-swap of modules aid long-term maintenance and reliability of the full system.
