Sencore at SCTE Cable-Tec Expo 2011

Date: 28/09/2011

Sencore at SCTE Cable-Tec Expo 2011:
Sencore offers a complete, state-of-the-art line of products that supports cost-effective and reliable content contribution and redistribution. The company provides high-quality, consistent video signal delivery and monitoring technology for the fast-changing, worldwide media market. At SCTE Cable-Tec Expo 2011, Sencore will highlight solutions that enable efficient distribution of multiple SD and HD video services, as well as solutions for system monitoring and signal analysis -- all designed for seamless interoperability, ease of integration, and backed by best-in-class customer support.

Sencore Products on Display at SCTE Cable-Tec Expo 2011:

Broadpeak Video Servers and CDN Appliances
With Broadpeak video delivery servers, an operator can establish a single delivery system for devices supporting Apple(R) HLS, Microsoft Silverlight, Adobe(R) Dynamic Streaming, and Transport Stream video.  As appliances truly designed for video streaming, the Broadpeak server line is designed to deliver a large number of video streams while maintaining a high Quality of Service for a large number of IP video customers. With support for transport stream delivery and all of the common OTT formats, the servers enable a video distributor to unify their delivery for mobile devices, PCs, and IP-based set-top boxes, creating a powerful all-in-one Video on Demand system.  In addition, the Broadpeak Mediator manages distribution of video assets to streaming servers based on location and frequency of use, allowing an operator to create a full-featured CDN system with a simple single-point of ingest.  Broadpeak servers provide a true turnkey solution for anyone looking to get into closed network or over-the-top IP video delivery or to deploy their own CDN for streaming video assets.

RF Signal Level Meters
The new Sencore RF signal level meters (SLMs) include reliable, feature-rich tools that today's RF professionals and cable MSOs can use to test and analyze a variety of RF signals. The RF SLMs provide decoded video and program streams for all in-the-clear channels. All SLM systems provide both analog and digital measurements, including pre/post BER, MER, Spectral Display, and DOCSIS 2.0 network testing (the SLM-1477 supports DOCSIS 3.0), as well as leakage and ingress testing, at an affordable price. The systems also offer a pass/fail test and results that can be logged and directly transferred from the meter via coax, LAN port, or USB.

TXS 3453 Transcoder
The TXS 3453 transcoder delivers multiple channels of best-in-class, high-performance, reliable transcoding and transrating in a high-density 1-RU chassis. With configurable transcoding engines and a versatile multichannel input/output architecture, the TXS 3453 can perform MPEG-2 to H.264 and H.264 to MPEG-2 SD and HD transcoding -- as well as transrating of MPEG-2 or H.264 streams -- with superb video quality. Key features include an extremely efficient compression engine supporting H.264 and MPEG-2 codecs with user-selectable advanced video pre-filters and encoding settings and MPEGoIP and ASI input and output support. The TXS 3453 offers up to 16 channels of transcoding or transrating and redundant, hot-swappable power supplies in a 1-RU rackmount platform.

MRD 3187B Receiver/Decoder With PID and Service Filtering Features
The versatile MRD 3187B receiver/decoder adapts to almost any contribution, distribution, or backhaul environment and sets the standard for performance, scalable functionality, and low cost of ownership. The device's modularity allows the user to adapt the product to almost any monitoring, decoding, or retransmission application. Sencore will display the new PID and service filtering features for the MRD 3187B -- first introduced at IBC2011 and ideal for IP turn-around applications. Other important features include genlock and an automatic primary/backup failover; DVB-Common Interface for conditional access; multiservice descrambling; and advanced DVB-S2 capabilities such as 16/32 ASPK demodulation and multistream VCM input support.

Monitoring, Measurement, and Analysis Tools at SCTE Cable-Tec Expo 2011:
The Sencore VideoBRIDGE family of monitors transports packets on IP, ASI, and RF interfaces for continuous quality assurance of streaming media in a variety of compression schemes, including MPEG-2 and MPEG-4. The VideoBRIDGE product line includes advanced core monitoring systems for national networks, edge-specific, and even customer-premise applications.

The new VB330 Dual Port probes add 10GbE analysis capabilities to Sencore's existing 1GbE offering. Two additional new products help enhance and expand this versatile product line. The VB12-RF features QAM/VSB, ASI, and IP analysis in a compact, portable chassis. The VB242 ASI blade offers the capability of 13 inputs in a 1-RU chassis, which brings high-density ASI monitoring to existing infrastructures.

SCTE Cable-Tec Expo Presentation
Sara Venhuizen, project manager and engineer at Sencore, has been selected to present at the SCTE Cable-Tec Expo 2011. Venhuizen's presentation, "Leveraging Video Transcoding in Headend and Hub Architectures" will be featured as part of the CDN Transcoding session. The specific time and date of Venhuizen's session has not yet been announced.

Sencore Quote:
"Today's MSOs and content providers are dealing with a variety of formats and codecs, which makes efficient 'any to any' transcoding -- such as MPEG-2 to MPEG-4 or HD to SD -- an invaluable asset," said Thomas Stingley, executive vice president of sales and marketing at Sencore. "At the SCTE Cable-Tec Expo, we'll be showcasing the latest in video transcoding solutions for both head-end and hub architectures, including our TXS 3453 transcoder, which reduces operating costs while ensuring maximum bandwidth."
