On Wednesday 4th August Sequence's staff genius Mike Fisher hit the ground running as post-production supervisor on this unique and intense project.
A team of Irish and British filmmakers teamed up with the local professionals in the attempt to create a full feature film in 72 hours! With the premier already scheduled in for the closing night of the Melbourne International Film Festival, the team had a mission ahead of them. Nothing but hard work, passion and sheer determination would see the project through to the end.
Adding to the pressure of shooting and cutting the film, a documentary crew shadowed the production process throughout. Whilst the crew were working at unimaginable speeds, a camera was capturing both the editing process and the crew on location then broadcasting it live to a screen in Federation Square. This stirred enthusiasms and support, enhancing the motivation of the team and making the project all the more exciting.
With the use of two MX chip RED cameras operated by two camera units, Apple Final Cut Pro, a highly tuned workflow plan, and a highly qualified team of professionals with an A-list screenplay, the project came to a very successful end on the morning of the 7th August, just in time for the sell out premier on the 8th. Mike Fishers job ethic throughout was second to none and his hard work definitely didn't go unnoticed. The successful completion of a film worthy of a roaring applaud from the 400 lucky audience members was the effect of Mike's clear approach and effective workflow.
"To say that Sequence Post were instrumental in the success of the 72 Hour Movie project is a huge understatement. They were there at the start in Galway when the Melbourne 72 project first began. They were there in London when we decided to shoot on RED. And they were there on the ground in Melbourne when it mattered most.
Mike Fisher of Sequence Post not only designed and managed a post workflow system that matched our resources and requirements, but also managed a team of data wranglers, editors and sound mixers that were all part of the success.
The expertises that Sequence provided helped us deliver a cinema quality feature film - shot on RED - to a sold out theatre at one of the world's biggest film festivals - all within 72 Hours. Thank you Sequence!"
