All Of It Now deploys disguise gx 2c on Halsey and rsquo;s Manic World Tour

American singer Halsey kicked off her Manic World Tour 2020 in Madrid in February supporting her just released studio album, also called Manic. The Manic World Tour spans 48 shows, and kicked off in Europe, with the next legs currently being planned for Asia and North America later this year. disguise gx 2c media servers were selected by All Of It Now to drive the show’s video and Notch IMAG real-time effects.

Numerous features of the disguise solutions came into play for the tour starting in pre-pro. “The show’s video design used a multi-layered frame, and the 3D workflow of disguise Designer allowed us to create parallel maps that placed content on the screen spatially without requiring specific renders for certain songs,” explains Danny Firpo of All of It Now, a disguise Rental Partner and Workflow Specialist based in San Francisco, who did the tour’s video programming with Cade Moore. “This gave us the creative flexibility to move content around the screen and explore different approaches for certain songs.

Work from home options available for Mediaproxy monitoring systems Posted: 28/04/2020
Work from home options available for Mediaproxy monitoring systems

Mediaproxy, the leading provider of software-based IP broadcast solutions, is helping its customers ensure their output of the highest technical quality at a time when many operational staff are having to work from home. The company's compliance analysis and logging systems can be accessed remotely using laptop computers to allow all confidence monitoring to be carried out.

The coronavirus crisis has made broadcasters dramatically reassess not only how programs are produced, but also how distribution operations are managed. The move to both IT and IP-based broadcast infrastructures had already made it possible for technicians to access systems from wherever they are. This option is now widely available, meaning broadcast centers can still run efficiently, while, at the same, time allowing self-isolation and social distancing guidelines to be observed.

MBC Produce the 2019 Indian Ocean Island Games Live with Bluefish444 IngeSTore Server and Avid Posted: 06/03/2020
USER STORY: MBC Produce the 2019 Indian Ocean Island Games Live with Bluefish444 IngeSTore Server and Avid

MBC was looking for a way to ingest live feeds of the 2019 Indian Ocean Island Games (IOIG) in Mauritius and approached Jasco to recommend and install a solution that could record material live from up to eight HD-SDI feeds. With MBC being a user of Avid products for over 10 years, including Avid NEXIS network storage and Avid Media Composer, the recording solution needed to integrate easily into their Avid-centric workflow.

Having integrated Bluefish444 products in the past, Jasco suggested MBC install Bluefish’s IngeSTore Server for their requirements.

“The Bluefish IngeSTore Server is an amazing piece of technology, so it was a simple choice to make when we had to propose an ingest solution,” said Jonathan Smith, Technical Manager of Jasco. “The ease when installing and integrating the server into existing infrastructure, and robust recording ability is what made all the difference. When you have no file corruption and no dropped frames on recordings, and no ingest fail during the whole IOIG event, the product speaks for itself. Definitely not the last Bluefish IngeSTore Server we will be installing.”

Mediaproxy to focus on future of IP-based solutions and OTT monitoring with LogServer at NAB 2020 Posted: 03/03/2020
Mediaproxy to focus on future of IP-based solutions and OTT monitoring with LogServer at NAB 2020

Mediaproxy, the leading provider of software-based IP broadcast solutions, will highlight recent upgrades to its industry leading LogServer logging, monitoring, and analysis system on Booth SU8502 at NAB Show 2020, taking place in Las Vegas from April 18-22.

With a growing change in direction by broadcasters away from SDI towards new uncompressed IP standards, Mediaproxy has established the way forward with its on-going engineering to support the wider gamut of the SMPTE 2110 standard. This not only includes 2110-20/30/40, but also the new compressed video essence standard of 2110-22 for 4K HDR sources and beyond.

LogServer already seamlessly supports SMPTE ST 2022-6 for both logging and the Monwall multi-panel live streaming multiviewer, which has been successfully deployed at scale, even in virtualized environments, to service the growing use of uncompressed IP formats.

2wcom MoIN server software links production and distribution Posted: 02/03/2020
2wcom and rsquo;s MoIN server software links production and distribution

2wcom’s Multimedia over IP Network (MoIN) server software is a containerized solution that provides all functionalities that traditional hardware audio over IP codecs have implemented. In contrast to hardware codecs the software offers vast scalability options no matter, if it is run in the cloud or on premise.

Thanks to its realization as a containerized service the operator can make use of the pricing benefit for containers compared to VMs on all major cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud. The reason for the better price is that in contrast to a VM containers don’t need allocated resources like vCPUs or RAM. They just consume what the need to. Moreover, the use cases of the software are very different and just a few are named here:

Icecast to DVB Transport Stream Transcoding: This is used by a number of customers who want to make web streams available on a DVB transport stream that can be sent in cable networks or via satellite.

Streaming Encoder: The software can also be used to feed a streaming encoder for example the Wowza streaming cloud. Or, 2wcom’s solution transcodes the audio signals to adaptive bitrate protocols like HLS that can be distributed to the end customer by using a CDN.

Paneda opts for 2wcoms 4audio IP and DAB solution to take advantages Posted: 02/03/2020
Paneda opts for 2wcoms 4audio IP and DAB solution to take advantages

Studio to headend: In an IP focused world, also audio is currently moving over to IP distribution which is most cost-efficient form of contribution. Regarding DAB this includes the chance to forward the station programs to the headend via Audio over IP and separate the audio portion from DAB multiplexing system. At Paneda, we do so by using 2wcom’s IP-4c four-channel Audio over IP codec and MoIN Multimedia over IP Network server. Both solutions offer a number of benefits and increase flexibility to handle the entire parts of a project. The basic principle for such setup is that the studio audio contribution feeds the centralized MoIN server over IP and providing the flexibility to choose different codecs and formats between studio and centralized server.

Head end to transmitter sites: 2wcom’s DAB-4c high density converter enables operators to use new and already existing infrastructures at the same time, including EDI and ETI multiplexers as sources or legacy ETI and EDI transmitters. Moreover, a satellite tuner and ASI interfaces allow very cost efficiently integration into already existing DVB-S/S2 satellite distribution systems or ASI networks to optimize coverage and distribute programs to regions that are still lacking broadband IP.

Mediaproxy to demonstrate full LogServer functionality at CABSAT 2020 Posted: 27/02/2020
Mediaproxy to demonstrate full LogServer functionality at CABSAT 2020

Mediaproxy, the leading provider of software-based IP broadcast solutions, will show the latest upgrades to its LogServer IP logging, monitoring and analysis system on booth A4-10 during CABSAT 2020 from 31 March to 2 April at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

CABSAT is the leading broadcast, satellite and content exhibition for the Middle East, Africa and South Asia markets. The show is a major draw for manufacturers of production, delivery and digital media technology. Now arranged to showcase three key broadcast sectors, CABSAT covers Content Creation, Content Production and Post-Production and Content Distribution and Delivery.

Mediaproxy produces technology that plays a major role in ensuring material leaving playout systems meets technical compliance standards. Platforms such as LogServer are also able to analyze and correct any problems or faults in the distribution chain. To perform these tasks more quickly and efficiently, Mediaproxy recently added exception-based monitoring to LogServer's feature set. This uses IP penalty boxes that allow broadcasters and MSOs (multiple system operators) working at scale to deal with QC and compliance more efficiently.

Interactivity is also a major consideration for broadcasters and service providers, particularly because social media is how many people access video today. Outlets such as Twitter, Facebook and YouTube have different, specific requirements for how material is prepared and Mediaproxy has incorporated dedicated tools for this into LogServer. These include features for cropping the image and altering the aspect ratio to make it better suited to mobile devices, in addition to the capability for inserting ad bumpers.

disguise vx 4 Media Servers Play Key Role in Toyota Booth at The Tokyo Motor Show 2019 Posted: 23/01/2020
disguise vx 4 Media Servers Play Key Role in Toyota Booth at The Tokyo Motor Show 2019

The 46th biennial Tokyo Motor Show drew 1.3 million visitors in October unveiling many new vehicles and concept cars to eager crowds. The Toyota booth engaged guests with a giant LED canvas, interactive elements and live-gaming racing with help from disguise vx 4 media servers supplied by Hibino, a disguise Rental Partner.

“The booth’s main display was a seamless 77.4 meters long and 24,768 pixels wide LED wall” says Emu Hino, Technical Director. “The Future City CG on the main display, which served as the background for the entire booth, was immersive and exciting. The experience of being surrounded by it and interacting with various content in the booth was very special for visitors.”

Hino explains that, “the pixel width of the display was never shown before, and 6x 4K outputs for perfect pixel management and synchronisation was required. Instead of the conventional 8-bit 256 colours we also needed 10-bit 1,024 colours. So, this was a project where there was no compromise in terms of scale and image quality.”
