The customisations, made possible through Open Zenium, are expected to enable Sky Italia to automatically optimize the quality of content and reduce costs through the insertion of machine learning directly into the data flow, bringing new and unique functionality to an existing product.

Viaccess-Orca, Harmonic, and VideoStitch Partner With Sky Italia to Re-invent Sports Fans Engagement Through Virtual Reality Posted: 18/04/2016

Millions of viewers worldwide follow each event in the MotoGP calendar. ONE TV has already secured a further assignment for three races of the Superbike World Championship.

Sony technology brings the canonization of Blessed John XXIII and John Paul II in 4K Posted: 31/03/2014

The ceremony to mark the canonization of Blessed John XXIII and John Paul II will take place on 27 April in St Peter's Square, Vatican City, and will be broadcast in 4K Ultra HD using Sony PMW-F55 cameras in a studio set-up. The occasion presents a new and important opportunity to put the revolutionary characteristics of 4K to the test, not only in terms of production but also in terms of enriching the quality of archived content. The event will be produced by the Vatican Television Centre (CTV) in partnership with Sony and Sky Italia, and with technological support from DBW Communication and Eutelsat. The event will be broadcast live in 4K at the Paul VI Audience Hall in the Vatican. Thanks to our partner, Prevost Srl, there will also be a live 3D broadcast of the event in Sotto il Monte Giovanni XXIII, the birthplace of Pope John XXIII, using a Sony SRX-R515P projector. As a result of collaboration between Sony, Sky Italia and Eutelsat, spectators will be able to experience the moment in 3D and feel as if they were in St Peter's Square.

Sky Italia chooses T-VIPS IP Video Transport Solutions for Next Generation IP Contribution Network Posted: 10/05/2011
T-VIPS, a global leader in professional video contribution and distribution solutions, today announced that its TVG425 MPEG Transport Stream and the TVG450 JPEG2000 Video Gateways have been selected to provide advanced video transport functionality for Sky Italias next generation contribution network. The T-VIPS Video Gateway suite is a flexible and cost-effective portfolio of products designed for real-time contribution and distribution of broadcast-quality video. The project has been delivered by T-VIPS valued business partner, CVE. The T-VIPS solutions are now integrated with the network, which will go live in the first half of 2011. This deployment, which connects Milan and Rome, is the first phase of a Sky Italia project to move to an advanced future-proofed all-IP video contribution network.
