Snell will showcase a rich array of solutions for creation, management, and distribution of content, all designed to ease broadcasters' transition to digital, HDTV, and 3Gb/s operations and their delivery of media to all variety of platforms. Snell will feature its market-leading solutions for efficient, high-quality image processing across today's dynamic media production and delivery workflows. At its 2010 NAB Show booth (N1820), the company will demonstrate how content producers and owners can leverage Snell's robust range of powerful systems toward greater automation, improved reliability, higher quality, and more flexible media handling in live production, playout, media restoration and transformation, and routing and monitoring.
Live Production At the 2010 NAB Show, Snell will be demonstrating the "kahunaverse." Designed to meet the ever-increasing demands of live production, this range of scalable, future-proof live production solutions incorporates leading-edge technology for the seamless integration of SD, HD, and 1080p. A must-see in this area is the launch of a bold new Snell product that offers the most powerful feature set on the market to enhance functionality, enable greater creative freedom, and support highly flexible workflows. Addressing the industry's growing interest in 3D, Snell also will demonstrate how a 3D stereoscopic production can be delivered at the output of Kahuna, extending the Kahuna's capabilities into this new arena. Another new feature for the 2010 NAB Show is Galaxy, an event list tool that brings a new level of live-assist automation to production, freeing up valuable time in fast-paced live environments such as news, sports, and events.
Automation Snell will launch version 2 of its Morpheus automation product at the 2010 NAB Show. The new release boasts an expansion of its industry-leading feature set and full ratification for running on a Virtual Machine environment. Snell will demonstrate a playout solution that runs on Morpheus and Morpheus ICE, providing unmatched system density while offering a fully resilient architecture. The vastly reduced hardware requirement of Morpheus ICE significantly lowers power consumption and at the same time brings additional redundancy to IT-based hardware. Other new functionality for Snell's acclaimed playout solutions includes "enhanced join in progress" to help broadcasters manage overruns in live events and a new Media Ball™ configuration tool, which assists in taking new channels on-air more quickly. New Morpheus ICE Version 2 support for 720p further expands the capabilities of this channel-in-a-box solution. Another key enhancement is the automation system's support for closed captions, an improvement that builds on the file-agnostic philosophy of Morpheus by enabling acceptance of the main industry-standard closed caption formats.
Conversion & Restoration A significant launch for the 2010 NAB Show is Archangel Ph.C – HD, an advanced SD and HD restoration system with real-time dirt, dust, grain, noise, scratch, instability, and flicker removal. Archangel Ph.C – HD unlocks the value of existing assets, ensuring that SD and HD content can be distributed in superb quality. The restoration system also brings significant improvements to users' workflows by maximizing the amount of restoration that can be completed in real time. Snell's flagship Alchemist Ph.C – HD, with Emmy® Award-winning Ph.C motion measurement technology, will be on display, showcasing its new 1080p capability, which empowers users to deliver content to any standard, without compromising picture quality or clarity. In addition to Dolby E transcoding and decoding already offered in Alchemist Ph.C – HD, the enhanced Dolby E Authoring option also enables encoding (PCM>Dolby E) with more comprehensive audio routing control.
Snell will also highlight two new additions to the Kudos Plus line of cost-effective rack-mountable standards and format converters. The new CVR800 frame-rate and format converter and the TBS800 format converter and synchronizer both offer a range of features and functionality, including support for 3Gb/s operations and composite video I/O, designed specifically to improve efficiency in the broadcast workflow and a powerful range of user controllable enhancement tools to enable users to obtain their preferred visual effect.
Modular Infrastructure Snell will demonstrate further strengthening of the IQ product line by demonstrating video over IP streaming with the IQ Modular platform. Aimed at signal distribution and desktop monitoring applications, the IQ Modular products will use high-efficiency, low-latency coding techniques to provide high-quality image transfers over an IP infrastructure. With selectable profiles for balancing high or low quality against high or low bandwidth usage, Snell's IQ Modular technology addresses a wide range of IP distribution applications, whether bandwidth-limited or requiring lossless
