Sony today announced further additions to its professional display line-up with the OLED PVM-741 and LCD LMD-941W. The PVM-741 is a 7.4-inch TRIMASTER EL¢ OLED monitor, with a picture resolution of 960 x 540 pixels. The LMD-941W is the industrys first[i] 9-inch monitor equipped with a Full-HD LCD panel resolution, which produces sharper and crisper images than ever before, making picture evaluation easier.
Sony is committed to strengthening its presence within the professional displays market and these new monitors demonstrate how its solutions meet the demands of todays customers. For consistency, both monitors have a common chassis and are equipped with two 3G SDI inputs so customers can operate multiple source monitoring. The monitors also feature a new carrier handle that makes them easier to transport.
The OLED PVM-741 and LCD LMD-941W include a number of new features to enhance user flexibility. Vector Scope and Waveform zoom functions, as well as line selection, have been built into the monitors to support field operations. Additionally, a colour focus function has been incorporated to ease camera focus alignment. An auto-white balance adjustment is also supported by the monitors so users can connect to ten of the most popular colour analyser probes on the market. The models contain a time code display function and a new progressive conversion interface to reduce video delay while maintaining accurate high picture quality.
Daniel Dubreuil, Senior Product Specialist at Sony Europe, said: These new monitors are the next step in professional displays, providing end-users with the highest picture quality available in the market. Our objective is to develop products that deliver the most accurate visual performance, while encompassing an extensive feature set that enhances user flexibility.
Since launching the first BVM-E250 TRIMASTER EL¢ OLED master monitor in February 2011, Sony has strengthened its OLED line-up with seven models and will have sold by the end of September over 15,000 TRIMASTER EL¢ OLED monitors around the world to major production broadcasters and post-production companies.
In recognition of Sonys TRIMASTER EL¢ OLED product range, Adam Luckwell, Managing Director of UNIT Post Production, said: UNITs emergence as one of the top post production companies in London has been in part due to the use of the very best technology. Our research showed us that OLED technology is an ideal solution for professional monitors, and therefore we decided to replace all our products with this model standard.
The LMD-941W will run in parallel with the LMD-940W and will be available in February 2013. The PVM-741 will directly replace the PVM-740 and will be available in October 2012.
Sony will be exhibiting at IBC 2012 in Hall 12, stand number 12.A10. For more information, the Sony IBC 2012 website will go live at the end of August on www.pro.sony.eu/ibc
