Sound Devices 633 Soars to New Heights with Hollywood Special Effects and Aerospace Engineer Dan Slater Posted: 10/11/2016
Dan Slater is a legend at his craft. In the 1970s and early 80s, he worked in Hollywood on special effects system design under the tutelage of special effects wizard Douglas Trumbull (2001: A Space Odyssey). Slater went on to receive two technical ACADEMY AWARDS in 1980 (technical achievement) and 1988 (scientific and technical). In the 1980s, Slater transitioned fully to a career in aerospace, working primarily in rocket and spacecraft flight and ground systems engineering, antenna measurements, and optical systems design. In recent years, Slater became interested in merging the best parts of aerospace and cinema technologies.

Production Sound Mixer Edward L. Moskowitz, CAS, has worked on some of television and film's biggest hits. Sound Devices Launches Wingman Remote Control App for its 6-Series Mixer Recorders at IBC 2016 Posted: 07/09/2016
Sound Devices unveils Wingman, its newest wireless remote control option for the 6-Series mixer/recorder line, at IBC 2016 (Stand 8.B59). Wingman is an iOS-based application that, when paired with the new WM-Connect Bluetooth Smart USB accessory, lets users start and stop audio recordings, enter and edit metadata, as well as arm, disarm, and rename tracks. It also gives users touch-screen access to manage sound report information, create sound reports on the mixer, and the ability to email those sound reports (.csv files) directly from an iPhone or iPad.
