Square Box Systems announced today that they will launch CatDV10, a major update to their award-winning media asset management and production workflow software, at IBC 2012.
Featuring an intuitive, user-friendly interface and powerful logging tools, CatDV 10 allows users to catalog and manage their media files wherever they are, in both single user and networked environments.
Uniquely, CatDV 10 can be used either as a standalone desktop application or with the optional CatDV Server 6.7 and CatDV Worker Node 5.0 to support fully networked and automated multi-user operation, turning it into the communication tool at the heart of a modern production workflow, used by editors, producers, librarians and clients to locate and share their media assets.
CatDV is a cross-platform software-based solution, so customers are not tied into particular hardware or storage products. CatDV 10 integrates will all the major edit platforms, including Adobe® Premiere® Pro CS6 software, Apple Final Cut Pro 7 and X, and AVID Media Composer, and supports 3rd party integration with popular archiving products such as Archiware, Atempo, Cache-A, DAX Archiving, Object Matrix, Sony Optical Disc Archive, Storage DNA, Quantum, and XenData.
New - Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 integration
Working in collaboration with Adobe, CatDV 10 features greatly improved
integration with Adobe Premiere Pro CS6. For standalone users there is a new Send To Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 command that will export clips and sequences (created using CatDVs built-in rough cut editor), together with metadata such as log notes and markers, into the current project. It is also possible to
export projects from Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 and add them to the CatDV database so they become assets that can be searched and shared.
For networked users, a CatDV search panel can be installed inside the Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 software, allowing users to log on and search the central CatDV database, then play and drag the required files into their project, all directly from within Adobe Premiere Pro itself.
New enterprise features
Other new features in CatDV 10 include a new Slate look and feel used consistently throughout the CatDV product family, a new pluggable exporter framework to support transcoding using different media libraries, improved ALE support, a Disk Space Tool for monitoring disk usage and finding duplicate files, and support for Cache-A library devices.
There are also many improvements to simplify using CatDV 10 in a corporate environment, including integration with an Active Directory server via LDAP, the ability to use the CatDV Server as a central license server (avoiding the need to install the CatDV license separately on each client machine), and support for using MS SQL, Oracle, or PostgreSQL as the database engine (as an alternative to MySQL).
Square Box Systems
CatDV 10 is developed by Square Box Systems Ltd, an independent UK-based software company, and sold globally through a network of distributors, resellers and systems integrators, providing local support and expertise in designing a complete production workflow.
