T-VIPS Equips Forthnets New HD Video Transmission Service

T-VIPS, a global leader in professional video contribution and distribution solutions, today announced that its TVG450 JPEG2000 Gateway solution has been chosen by Forthnet, the largest private broadband and satellite service provider in Greece. The system delivers high quality IP transport solutions and will be used for the implementation of Forthnets new business service; TV Circuits On Demand. Forthnets new service will transfer video content from stadiums or any other fixed locations across the country over its FO network to the Nova media center in Athens. Nova is a Forthnet owned satellite and terrestrial broadcaster. Forthnet will also be using T-VIPS Connect to manage the contribution network. The solution was delivered in close cooperation with T-VIPS Greek Partner OmniWave Ltd and was chosen after extensive field trials.

We are extremely happy to have been chosen by Forthnet to provide our IP-based video transport solution for the implementation of the new TV Circuits On Demand service that will be used, in the first phase, for the broadcast of Greeces premier football league, said Johnny Dolvik, CEO, T-VIPS. Exciting projects such as this are very satisfying to work on and demonstrate that we deliver efficient technologies that also provide the flexibility to handle future broadcaster needs. Given our wide experience in sports video transport we bring both best-in-class technology and expertise to the project and look forward to ensuring football fans enjoy fantastic coverage of Greeces best soccer action.

Nova is a digital satellite PayTV platform owned by Forthnet Group. The Group constitutes of Forthnet, the largest private broadband company in Greece, as well as Forthnet Media Holdings and Multichoice Hellas (Nova), the largest private providers of radio-television subscription services in the country. Nova offers Greek subscribers an array of international and domestic SD and HD programs, including live broadcasting of Greek Super League football games, and the majority of popular Greek TV channels. The Group now holds the broadcasting rights for TV, internet, mobile and radio transmission, covering the territories of Greece, Cyprus and Albania, and all sixteen Super League teams.

The TVG450 JPEG2000 Gateway solution will allow Forthnet to transport video over IP in an extremely cost effective way whilst ensuring the soccer coverage remains of the highest quality, said Mr. Dimitris Papazafeiropoulos, CTO of Forthnet. It is a great advantage that the solution is future proofed, providing us with an upgrade path for 3D and 3G/1080p video when the time is right. In addition, the flexible configuration capability of the TVG450, allowing simultaneous use as both an encoder and decoder, provides us with an extremely powerful solution for our live broadcasts.

New Streaming High Speed Cameras Posted: 26/09/2022
Phoenix

During the pandemic, most of us had two choices. Identifying parts of our business that we can accelerate, or nothing! At IDT, we chose the former, so we have just launched a new product range, and have three (yes, three) more coming shortly.
High speed cameras have traditionally been at the specialist end of the camera spectrum, with short sequences being recorded to RAM, and an interruption in workflow required before the next captured sequence. Minor improvements to this basic workflow have been implemented, like segmenting the RAM (which shorten each sequence, and still require a download later on), or having on board SSD, for faster downloads.
