TAG Video Systems Introduces Next Generation Approach for Media and amp; Entertainment Industry to Deploy, Operate and Acquire Broadcast Technology - Zer0 Friction

TAG Video Systems, the world leader in 100% SW, 100% IP, 100% COTS/Cloud, Probing, Monitoring and Multiviewing solutions, is reassuring broadcasters, during this time of heightened news and media consumption, that global operations are uninterrupted, and in fact strengthened by the Company’s Zer0 Friction business strategy – an industry First.

Zer0 Friction takes broadcast technology to the next level; leveraging TAG’s unique ability to handle both compressed and uncompressed formats. Supporting all major industry standards such as SMPTE 2110, 2022-6/7, JPEG 2000, MPEG TS, DASH, HLS and CMAF. TAG’s solution can be applied to all four major broadcast applications: Live production, Playout, Delivery and OTT. Zer0 Friction allows clients the operational agility to manage the software across applications and locations, thus maximizing asset utilization.

“For years the industry has expressed concerns about the low utilization of broadcast technology,” stated TAG’s Zero Friction Officer Kevin Joyce. “In many cases systems are being used less than 30% of the time. With Zer0 Friction TAG’s customers are no longer restricted in how they use our multi-functional applications, where they use them across their ecosystem, or when they use them. Broadcasters can now use a Multiviewer for live production in a facility in London and as soon as they are done, applying the license to probe for errors in a OTT facility in New York. Finally, the clients will be unrestricted operationally and financially to deliver the best possible content to consumers with…… Zer0 Friction”

Since its founding 12 years ago, TAG has been 100% SW, 100% IP, 100% COTS and it has been TAG’s philosophy to provide clients a zero commitment trial of the TAG system to ensure 100% satisfaction. “As a software only company we are able to deploy our technology and have customers up and running in minutes,” said Joyce. “Support is handled remotely, and all software upgrades are delivered remotely on a continuous basis. This is what clients have always wanted and we are now taking this to the next level with the of Zer0 Friction.“

As the industry transitions to cloud based IP workflows, TAG’s Zer0 Friction approach is an industry first in what we expect will be the only way broadcast applications will be deployed in the future. Zero Friction breaks down the traditional barriers across the three pillars of a truly digital workflow: Technology, Operations, and Asset utilization to provide an unprecedented customer experience.

On behalf of all of us at TAG video Systems, we wish you all a healthy 2020.

Intinor to Demonstrate How to Do Remote Production in Live Webinars With Skaarhoj Posted: 21/05/2020
Intinor to Demonstrate How to Do Remote Production in Live Webinars With Skaarhoj

Intinor Technology, Sweden’s leading developer of products and solutions for high quality video over the internet, will be demonstrating how to do remote production in a series of live webinars with Danish company Skaarhoj, manufacturers of universal broadcast control panels. The aim is to showcase how the remote production tools from both Intinor and Skaarhoj complement each other to give a flexible, secure workflow for live production using a variety of different content sources and locations.

Interest in remote production workflows (or REMI) has been on the increase for some time now already. Even before the current global social distancing requirements created an added incentive for broadcasting companies to seek an alternative to the traditional travel-dependent methods of production, the economic and productivity benefits that REMI offers enables companies to more easily meet the rising demand for live content.

At Jordans Al-Mamlaka TV, IHSE KVM Systems Keep Live Broadcasts Running Smoothly in Landmark New Broadcast Center

IHSE, the leading manufacturer of high-end KVM (keyboard-video-mouse) solutions for extension and switching of computer signals, today announced that Al-Mamlaka TV, Jordan's first state-funded public service news broadcaster, has adopted IHSE KVM solutions for its all-new, state-of-the-art broadcast facility in the capital city of Amman.

Launched in 2018, Al-Mamlaka TV operates from a greenfield, futuristic new broadcasting center in Amman, with a 24/7 lineup of HD news and public affairs shows airing on both linear and OTT platforms. Al-Mamlaka TV worked with an IHSE systems integrator to design the landmark broadcast center, which boasts several firsts in the region: one of the first facilities to embrace virtualization, one of the first to feature a motorized video wall, and the first to make extensive use of augmented reality (AR). The centerpiece of the Al-Mamlaka TV facility is a 400-square-meter, seven-camera studio with five sets and an open design connecting it to the newsroom one floor below. A second, four-camera studio features three predesigned sets, and a third smaller studio looks out on an impressive view of the Amman skyline.

Anevia Adds Multi-tiered Storage to its Cloud DVR Storage Offering Posted: 20/05/2020
Anevia Adds Multi-tiered Storage to its Cloud DVR Storage Offering

Anevia announces the addition of multi-tiered storage to its Cloud DVR storage offering, Embedded Distributed Storage (EDS). This new feature makes EDS even more cost-efficient and scalable while also enabling storage in the cloud – meaning the solution becomes both flexible and elastic.

TV service providers are increasingly enriching their VOD content and need to expand their storage capacity without a commensurate increase in the number of users. The original hyper-convergent design of the scalable, high-performance EDS calls for more servers to be added to increase streaming and storage capacity in parallel. Multi-tiered storage means it is now possible to also increase storage capacity independently of streaming capacity.

With only a small fraction of the VOD catalogue being consumed regularly, long-tail content can be stored more efficiently and cost-effectively on general-purpose ‘cold storage’ support used by the IT departments. This eliminates the need to buy new servers and the related software licences, cutting both the complexity and the cost of scaling for a given number of users.

The newly introduced feature also enables object storage, which opens up the possibility of storing in the public or private cloud. This brings the advantages of scalability, flexibility and elasticity.
