The Switch moves Senior Vice President of international sales to London to drive global growth

The Switch, the platform for the production and global delivery of live video, has announced the relocation of Senior Vice President of Sales Nicholas Castaneda to the United Kingdom to drive its continued growth in international markets. Castaneda is now based in The Switch’s Central London office and will spearhead further expansion in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, Asia Pacific and other markets, where leading players in live broadcast and streaming are turning to The Switch for its remote production capabilities and global network reach.

“We are seeing a wealth of new opportunities in live event broadcasting in markets from EMEA to APAC and want to be in a strong position to further develop those,” says Eric Cooney, The Switch’s President and Chief Executive Officer. “The Switch is witnessing an exciting period of growth as we continue to expand our live production offering, including the launch of our new cloud-based production service, MIMiC, while investing in our global network. Nick has played an integral role in developing our business strategy, sales reach and key partnerships in international markets. He knows and understands these markets and I am delighted he will be intensifying his focus on extending our presence in them.”

The Switch has, in the past year, formed strategic partnerships with major broadcast delivery operators across Europe, including Germany’s MTI Teleport, Italy’s EI Towers and Turkish news agency New TR, combining and extending the global reach of all parties’ production and transmission capabilities. These partnerships enable The Switch’s clients to easily and more cost-effectively acquire live feeds and distribute content seamlessly via its robust and extensive international network. The company also recently forged deals with: Jockey Club of Turkey, to deliver live feeds of UK horseraces; and JSPORTS, Japan’s largest sports broadcaster, to deliver live feeds of Major League Baseball, PGA golf and WWE wrestling via a dedicated transmit path between New York and Tokyo.

Castaneda notes: “The Switch’s focus is on combining our live content connectivity with our growing service platform on an international footprint. These collective offerings are a natural fit for many live event organizers and sports leagues looking to efficiently, flexibly and cost-effectively meet soaring demand for live content. We are excited to continue expanding these offerings to more customers globally and helping bring some of the world’s most talked about live events to audiences worldwide.”

Castaneda’s move comes after the UK-based appointment of Robert Szabo-Rowe as Senior Vice President Product Management, which followed the naming of a London-based global VP of Marketing, Kevin O’Meara. Szabo-Rowe led the recent launch of The Switch’s comprehensive new cloud-based production-as-a-service offering, MIMiC, which enables production from anywhere in the world – enhancing The Switch’s extensive range of live production and delivery services across the globe.
